I had insomnia last night and watched an infomercial on the Perfect Dog system. It was pretty vague and I have not looked online further but it seemed interesting. Does anyone know anything about it. The boundary training in particular interested me. Of course, all informercials seem like a good idea at 3am!

Is that the Don Sullivan program?  I know that has been brought up before.  Use the Search box in the Forum  and search for "Don Sullivan".

haha... yea i saw that infomercial too like 3 wks back :) i did some research on it and apparently it's the "old school" way of training you know the "do as i say or i'll make you do as i say" way of training vs the "new age" way of "i'll teach you how to do what i want and reward you for doing so" i guess it just depends on how you want to train your pup/dog :D

Thanks - I have been looking online and I don't think it is for me. It is interesting how little they really said on the informercial regarding the actual training method. I guess that is how things are sold to suckers like me! Thankfully I didn't fall for it last night :)

Remember there are many different methods people consider 'old school' and they are not all equal.  So I would not rule out 'old school' entirely.  And "old" is relative because there isn't much new under the sun really.  I happen to use an 'old school' method of obedience training that does not involve treat rewards and it is remarkably effective and it does involve "i'll teach you how to do what i want and reward you for doing so" but it also involves corrections.

very true... i should've been more clear in my definition of "old school"... from the reviews i read it essentially said that the DVD teaches you how to force your dog into submission and promotes hitting(by means of uppercutting) and such.... though the people that defended the DVD training says that the hitting wasn't abusive but rather to make the dog/pup uncomfortable... but to me i just don't support hitting an animal unless your/someone's life is truly in danger :)

True that Rebecca - 3AM is why they are on, sleepless nights and nothing to do but spend money.

Personally I have no idea but I have been interested many of nights in many of things. Just do your research.
