The vet just called with the pathology report. Fudge had a Papilloma and it was benign. I was trying to write down what she was saying and feel free to correct me if I am not making much sense. She said papillomas are caused by a virus and it is not uncommon for young dogs to get them in their mouth and ears. She said it often triggers an immune response and many times left alone they will go away. She did not feel, however, that would have happened in Fudge's case. The cells around the papilloma were all normal, so she feels she got everything. The vet did say I am to continue checking Fudge's ears (oh boy) and mouth for any signs of more of these and worst case scenario, if they keep coming back, sometimes chemotherapy is needed. So, this is very good news and we are relieved and happy! Thank you to everyone for their concern.
I don't know how I missed this whole discussion, but am just now tuning in. I am very pleased to hear the results were benign. That must have been scary for you! What a relief!!!!!!
