The Yellow Dog Project.  Maybe you have heard of it, maybe you haven't.  Either way, you might learn something new here.
We are proud to say that The Yellow D...og Project's creator is Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid's independent Instructor Tara Palardy of Red Deer's The Academy.  Both a dog trainer and dog lover, Tara had seen that there simply was no etiquette to nicely say "Give my dog some space".  So she created a universal form of communication: the yellow ribbon tied to the dog's leash.
The yellow ribbon tied to a dog's leash simply means that you are not to greet them.  They might be sick, recovering from surgery, unreliable with other dogs, or there could be any other host of reasons.
No matter the reason, the yellow ribbon clearly says it all and we think it's a great idea.  Please share this information with your friends

we're all good

I still haven't ever seen a dog sporting yellow, but without the reminder, I would have forgotten its' purpose.  Thanks.

I would love to see this poster in every vet's office, pet store and street corner.  Recently at the vet's office I was working very hard to keep my overly social Meg in a stay when this really rude woman came straight over and shoved her hand out to pet her, as Meg started up the woman shoved her knee out and straight armed her commanding STAY, the more I tried to calm down Meg at that point the ruder the woman was, finally telling me a pinch collar would take care of that issue.  I coldly told her that we don't have these issues at home but obviously I can not control WHO comes up to her in public.  I love the yellow ribbon but know there are ignorant people out there that don't think any warnings are for them.  We really don't have these issues with Meg in public unless someone walks straight up to her and starts talking, if they talk to us and ignore her she is fine and will settle, but if they talk to her first she is over the moon excited, we still work on this but she LOVES people.

WOW Judy, YOU were very polite with that woman. I don't think I would have been that nice. She approches my leashed dog, and then starts kneeing her and saying commands ? YIKES for sure I would have been smiling... for the benifit of anyone watching, but rude, VERY rude. You are da woman ! :)

Yup getting these posters out there and making them more visual would really be a benifit !

you should have asked the woman if a pinch collar would have worked on her because you don't recall telling her that it was ok to approach your dog!

Oooh Amy, THAT was a good one ! :)

I try to be understanding but stupid people really just bug me.  Especially when they are stupid but then make it seem like you are the one that is in the wrong.  Grrrrrr.  I wish that I could wear the yellow ribbon.  Maybe a yellow t-shirt that says "the dogs are friendly but the human is NOT!  Keep your distance!!"

HA HA HA HA  I was just getting ready to type that stupid people used to make me laugh, now they just p!$$ me off when I read this last comment.

I like yellow.....

oooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOO  Perfect

HI!

Sincerely

Tara
