Is there anyone with a Therapy Dog who also has done type of insurance in case - God forbid - there is an injury?

Do you mean in case the dog gets injured, or in case the dog injures someone? If the former, pet insurance is recommended for all dogs, whether they do therapy work or not.

I mean in case a dog injured someone during the course of its therapy work.

And do you mean SERVICE DOG that does tasks for its owner or a therapy dog that visits others to cheer them up?

I mean if a Therapy Dog injured someone at a facility in the course of their work.

The two major therapy dog registration organizations: Pet Partners and Therapy Dogs International both insure the therapy dog if you are a volunteer.  What kind of therapy dog registration do you have with your dog?

I have liability insurance through TDI which is the therapy organization that Guinness is registered with.  It would cover liability arising from an injury that he caused during a therapy visit.  Also most homeowners insurance policies provide a generalized liability coverage for these types of situations.  You might check with your broker or insurance carrier to see if you have this coverage.

Wally and I are part of an organization called, Dog B.O.N.E.S. Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts, and that membership includes insurance. Plus, our homeowner's umbrella policy covers injury to anyone caused by our dogs, as well.
