I've noticed many changes in the way I do things as I get older, or maybe it's just since I've had dogs. Things expand to fit the free time you have. So just the ADL, Activities of Daily Living as they are known in the care trade, soon take most of the day. Any appointment before noon is a major hassle and 1pm is preferable. Especially if you are a night owl like me.
and there's WWF
Whoops, wrong WWF
So I've made a new rule that you can only plan one major, and major is very relative, thing a day and sometimes that is too much. If I go to my office for a few hours that's it. If I'm cooking for company, a rarity nowadays , I shop the day before. Mostly if I need to return invitations I take people out. So much more relaxing and the food is better : )
I no longer wear a watch but maybe that's partly because I always have a clock or cell phone nearby. I no longer balance checkbooks, which I did fanatically in years gone by, because who wants to waste however much time I have left on that. I once found a mistake the bank made for one penny, all the other mistakes were mine.
Some of the things I have begun to do and stopped doing will not be discussed in polite company. But one major change I've made is that I no longer stop myself much from expressing my opinion. So I find myself writing emails to CEOs, sometimes ranting and sometimes merely requesting things politely. Today I felt like writing to Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple so I did:
And now that I see how much easier life is with Google Chrome I may have to use it. I am writing this on Chrome since it is almost impossible for me to upload images to DK otherwise using Firefox since they disabled Java. But first I'll have to write to Java to see when the security issues are really going to be fixed. And then I'll have to find out how to put the tabs under the taskbar. Ah, life is complicated : )

Oh yes, grandchildren are the exception to all rules. Still waiting here.
Ah yes, I recognise all of the above. Today I had to be up at 6am to take my daughter to the hospital for an all day procedure. At 9m I posted a question on FB.
You know when you're accompanying someone in hospital and they leave their bed? Is it ok to have a lie down until they come back?
I know it sounds funny but i meant it LOL
Oh, Nicky. I hope your daughter gets through her procedure smoothly.
She is home now fine, (I'm exhausted) had to have a Liver biopsy due to years of raised enzyme levels...she has Turner Syndrome so lots of things not run of the mill.
Nicky, I hope all the procedures show good results.
LOL Nicky, I've had that same thought! Hope your DD is okay!
You are a stitch Nicky. I never want to lay in a hospital bed, ever, they don't look to comfortable to me.
I hope your DD is doing well.
Wow F, I have been thinking all the same things and wondering what was going on with me. Things REALLY do change as you get older and for some reason, it seems like time (meaning during the day) gets shorter and shorter. I find myself saying if I have an appointment at 2pm or 3pm I just can't do anything before that! Crazy to say the least! Simplify is the KEY word now days. I never thought after retired I would look forward to the week ends again, but I watch granddaughters in the morning and ater school, which I love to do, but those early mornings again tire this "older" lady out. So on the week ends my DH, Libby and myself love to not hearing that alarm:)
I feel you on this one F. DH sets the alarm, I don't need it...the week days buzz does not bother me I just roll over and go back to sleep. The Sunday morning buzz does the same thing to me, I worry about hearing it when I really want to sleep.
I have created a monster in that I am the one who insists on early Church service to get our day started and not languish in our PJ's all AM. That way we are back home to our Daisy and ready to do our favorite things by 9:30. All this usually requires an afternoon nap for all 3 but I am okay with that, Daisy is too because she in the recipient of one of our favorite things, going to the park to run and play,
