I've noticed many changes in the way I do things as I get older, or maybe it's just since I've had dogs. Things expand to fit the free time you have. So just the ADL, Activities of Daily Living as they are known in the care trade, soon take most of the day. Any appointment before noon is a major hassle and 1pm is preferable. Especially if you are a night owl like me.

and there's WWF

Whoops, wrong WWF

So I've made a new rule that you can only plan one major, and major is very relative, thing a day and sometimes that is too much. If I go to my office for a few hours that's it. If I'm cooking for company, a rarity nowadays , I shop the day before. Mostly if I need to return invitations I take people out. So much more relaxing and the food is better : )

I no longer wear a watch but maybe that's partly because I always have a clock or cell phone nearby. I no longer balance checkbooks, which I did fanatically in years gone by, because who wants to waste however much time I have left on that. I once found a mistake the bank made for one penny, all the other mistakes were mine.

Some of the things I have begun to do and stopped doing will not be discussed in polite company. But one major change I've made is that I no longer stop myself much from expressing my opinion. So I find myself writing emails to CEOs, sometimes ranting and sometimes merely requesting things politely. Today I felt like writing to Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple so I did:

"Smiley for IPAD
Dear Mr. Cook,

I recently got an IPad mini and I love it. One thing that would make my life and the lives of all social media users, easier would be a smiley face that was accessible with one step like the apostrophe is when you slide on the ,! key. Surely this would be  easy for your programming gurus. The way I've been doing it takes a lot of effort.

Someday Flash would be lovely too.

Thanks for your consideration,"
F....... ............
One of my mottos in life is, "How can I make life easier for myself given who I am? " What have you done along these lines?

And now that I see how much easier life is with Google Chrome I may have to use it. I am writing this on Chrome since it is almost impossible for me to upload images to DK otherwise using Firefox since they disabled Java.  But first I'll have to write to Java to see when the security issues are really going to be fixed. And then I'll have to find out how to put the tabs under the taskbar. Ah, life is complicated : )

Absolutely you can burn them. But if he goes to work shirtless, I don't think it will help the personal economy. I am sorry that times are tough.

Bonnie, I had this job, too, when I first started staying home.....ironing those %$^& shirts my DH wore to work. I must have complained so much that he ordered some uniforms and now I iron no more :) My mom used to take in ironing for extra money and I can remember her using a 7-up bottle with a sprinkler cap on and sprinkling the shirts with water and ironing them to perfection. What a job!

My mom sprinkled the linens as you described, rolled them and put them in the freezer for a bit, then ironed.  I am exhausted just typing it!

You know...I think my mom rolled up laundry and put in in the freezer, too. I am going to ask her. I used to love watching her shake the water on the clothes. Little did I know what a pain it must have been.

Our bottle was a coke bottle.

I was the sheet, pillowcase, and hankie ironer when I was a kid.

My mom was just talking about the hankies the men use out where she lives and how much it bothers her! I have to say I wish they would use Kleenex, too :)  We always got our dad hankies for Christmas. Times have changed.

Did you mean tissues. We don't plug brand names here : )

Bonnie, you can do both at the same time, lol.

Funny, funny!

No, but you could teach him to iron them himself ... that's the way it works at our house!  lol

Yes I can, Karen! Such a good point! I actually was hoping burning would eliminate the ironing part though.
