I've noticed many changes in the way I do things as I get older, or maybe it's just since I've had dogs. Things expand to fit the free time you have. So just the ADL, Activities of Daily Living as they are known in the care trade, soon take most of the day. Any appointment before noon is a major hassle and 1pm is preferable. Especially if you are a night owl like me.

and there's WWF

Whoops, wrong WWF

So I've made a new rule that you can only plan one major, and major is very relative, thing a day and sometimes that is too much. If I go to my office for a few hours that's it. If I'm cooking for company, a rarity nowadays , I shop the day before. Mostly if I need to return invitations I take people out. So much more relaxing and the food is better : )

I no longer wear a watch but maybe that's partly because I always have a clock or cell phone nearby. I no longer balance checkbooks, which I did fanatically in years gone by, because who wants to waste however much time I have left on that. I once found a mistake the bank made for one penny, all the other mistakes were mine.

Some of the things I have begun to do and stopped doing will not be discussed in polite company. But one major change I've made is that I no longer stop myself much from expressing my opinion. So I find myself writing emails to CEOs, sometimes ranting and sometimes merely requesting things politely. Today I felt like writing to Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple so I did:

"Smiley for IPAD
Dear Mr. Cook,

I recently got an IPad mini and I love it. One thing that would make my life and the lives of all social media users, easier would be a smiley face that was accessible with one step like the apostrophe is when you slide on the ,! key. Surely this would be  easy for your programming gurus. The way I've been doing it takes a lot of effort.

Someday Flash would be lovely too.

Thanks for your consideration,"
F....... ............
One of my mottos in life is, "How can I make life easier for myself given who I am? " What have you done along these lines?

And now that I see how much easier life is with Google Chrome I may have to use it. I am writing this on Chrome since it is almost impossible for me to upload images to DK otherwise using Firefox since they disabled Java.  But first I'll have to write to Java to see when the security issues are really going to be fixed. And then I'll have to find out how to put the tabs under the taskbar. Ah, life is complicated : )

LOL!  The company and those monkey heads are pretty tempting...

Doris, I told John you didn't want to see his trunk(s) at the pool and he couldn't believe it :) LOL

Leave it to Laurie to introduce smut into an innocent discussion about laziness sloth enjoying our leisure time. LOL

Exactly!

LOL..I felt like F's discussion needed a little pick-me-up :)

Watch out or you'll get a put-down.

LOL...

Cheryl, I like how you think. That DK dog head would be perfect, especially if I iron the one ear :) I am going to refrain myself now. Please come on that cruise.

I wanted to sign up but I thought I'd have a concert scheduled mid-October so no go.  Now I'm not so sure.

Well, remember we live close by and you would have someone to fly with :)

Pre 98% retired, I know work 1 day a week at home, our bed had duponi silk comforter and a million gorgeous pillows. Now I have a nice but inexpensive comforter with what used to be white cotton blanket over it to keep the comforter clean. I also was nuts about balancing the checkbook but now I only do online banking. Bills are paid with automatic payments or they would be late because I would never get to the post office. I even deposit my checks via smartphone so I don't have to leave the house to go to the bank.

Since my kids moved home, I pay but they go to the market and cook. I clean. I WIN!!!!

I have overdue for md appointments,  just the thought of having a predetermined time that I have to be up, dressed and out makes me cringe.

I do keep the drawers and closets neat - guess that is because I live in sweats and tee shirts - who cares since I am home??

I just love that I can finally do what I want, when I want and with whom I want. I spent too many years caring about what others thought and needed that I came in last. Now the doodles are the only thing ahead of me and just love it!!!

Thanks F for this discussion - it's nice to know that I am in great company!!!

I am truly surprised and happy to find so many kindred spirits chimed in to this discussion. It is always comforting to have company and who could ask for better company than we have here.
