This may be a silly question, but do all dogs usually have a bottomless pit stomach, and are permanently hungry?

Jaxon seems to be always hungry. If I drop something on the floor, it's gone before I even bend down to pick it up! If we are eating, he just comes up to us and sits in front and stares at us eating with big eyes. Even if he is sleeping and I eat something, he will be wide awake by my feet. Is this way it is???

I've always had dogs that ate their food right when it was put down - not gulpers through.  Alma is just the opposite of your Jaxon.  I can put her dish down in the morning and sometimes she doesn't even look at it until dinner.  And she never surfs for food under the table or in the kitchen.  The vet says she's healthy and we feed her a high quality, grain-free food.  We even switch flavors to make it more interesting for her.  What's funny is, if I start to peel a banana, she is right by my side.  I always share those with her - but never at the kitchen table.
