So my lil Bella turned three months old this week just had to say that first......As you guys know already we live in the country and Bella loves running and playing all over but I found a second tick on her yesterday..... Last week I treated her with the frontline for fleas and ticks so I am confused as to why she would still pick up a tick.....Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to do that would prevent her from picking them up.......Hope everyone had a great weekend and say a lil prayer for me i will have to go back to see the doctor in the morning and if my xray of my tummy isnt better i will have to be admitted to the hospital for IV fluids....Hopefully the two bags they gave me at the office today will do the trick.....

Frontline does not repel ticks. It will kill once they bite the dog. There are sprays and collars that will repel. Several that are natural.
We treat Sophie also and she had a tick last week. It was embedded. I don't know how I missed it for very long because I brush/comb her every day.
Saying prayers for you..
I have used BioSpot spot on for years. I have not found a tick on Haley this year but 3 on me - gross. BioSpot repels and kills ticks and fleas. We also live in the country and have deer and other critters pass through our yard all the time dropping ticks. Last year was epidemic for ticks here and the BioSpot did kill the ticks (they do have to bite first) but we were also picking ticks off Haley's legs after walks (would rather get them off rather than wait for them to be repelled into my house). Hope all goes well for you and you avoid the hospital.
I hope all goes well with your doctor's visit!

We use Frontline, too, and live in a very tick infested area. We have found Frontline to be very effective....the tick bites then usually disengages, falls off and dies. Usually, I find the tick as it is climbing off after biting. They are pretty lethargic at that point. I then "dispose" of them by putting them in the melted wax of a burning candle (I use tealights) and then blowing out the candle so they get stuck in the wax. I go through this because you never really know if they have already bitten and flushing the ticks or throwing them out will not kill them. I won't take that risk with my family since Lyme Disease is so prevalent here. What we do is: after Nugget has been in an especially tick infested area, she goes into her crate for about a half an hour or so...."tick isolation" we call it. Then, I give her a good once over for ticks....by then they have usually bitten and can be easily removed due to the Frontline.

Nugget will be 4 in October and none of us (including her) have ever tested positive for Lyme, so I think my system has worked so far....or we're just lucky! Knocking wood as I say this!

Just FYI.....our vet wouldn't let us apply Frontline until Nugget was 5 months old....maybe Bella is bigger than Nugget was at that age?
