Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We will be getting our first doodle in late sept. I'm excited, I have been reading everything I can  about the breed and have been learning alot. I thought it would be helpful to me if all of you, who I look up to as the OZ of the doodle world, could give me a peice of advice that you wish you would have known when first bringing a puppy into your home. I  will then print it out, lamanate it, teach my family, and live by the rules lol. Thank you!

There's a list called The Puppy's Rule of Twelve. It is  written and copyrighted by Margaret Hughes so I won't post it here but this is a link to it:

It is a socialization guide of things your puppy should experience by the time they are 12 weeks old.  You're gonna be busy! LOL!  I tried following it when Tara was a puppy and did pretty well but...could have done better...:)

The amount of brushing and grooming. Get yourself the right brush for your puppy's coat and brush everyday, from the first day you bring the puppy home. Your puppy will go through several coat changes during the first year or so. Lots of great grooming advice here on DK, including help with selecting the right brush for the kind of coat your pup has.
