After the initial vaccination we draw titers instead of vaccinating. Titers have always come back with proof that they didn't need vaccinating. Hence reducing my furry friends to the exposure of toxins.

What are your experiences  with this. Does your Vet offer Titers as an alternative to vaccines.

Just asking?

I do understand homeopathic doses , which is why I think it's throwing money away. But I never felt a need for a truce with you, we just have differing thoughts on this.

We certainly do.

I wish they would have downsized jacks dose.... I am sure he would have has enough immunity ....I am glad for the three year shots......... I was told by my vet that it was the same dose as the one year shots but that they actually studied it to find it working until three years...

Thanks for the info. We are good on vaccines for a few more years now.....

Jennifer, I'm glad you have the vaccines behind you for now. It is always so stressful!  Maybe next time you can ask your vet about a reduced dose...might be worth a try!  I've heard the same thing about the 3 year being the same as the one year...WTD???

anyone know if you can get titer done for bordetella?  Day Camp requires this shot

I very much doubt it. Bordetella vaccines do not seem to convey long lasting immunity which is why they are given often. I know over vaccination is a big topic now but vaccinations saves countless lives and avoid massive breakouts of illness.

Totally agree F ... I would never not vaccinate..... I would never not get my own vaccines. It's just nice to have titer testing available after you vaccinate to see proof the vaccine is working and also to I
Know the level of immunity.
: )

You have to do bordetella.

I did Jack's puppy shots and then he got his one year shots. For his second and third birthday we did titer testing. For his fourth birthday we did three year vaccines.   I just couldn't afford titer testing and Jack was being boarded.    So He had his puppy shots, one year shots and then at four years he got his three year titers……

Jack will not receive any more vaccines at all except the rabies ….. I will go back to titer testing him when his three years are up.   If he doesn't show strong immunity then he will be inoculated …..

Jack got the flu shot this year against us really knowing it.. when he went to get his teeth cleaned they gave it to him without my permission and said it was standard, and then since he got it, and I Had to pay for it, we gave him his second dose

I am not a fan of too many vaccines but I do make sure he is protected….

Ellie has had all her puppy shots, but we definitely plan on doing titers going forward:)

We also get titers for rabies. In Ohio you have to get rabies shots every three years after the initial rabies vaccination. We always have a titer drawn then when we get a license for them we tell the county they had a titer drawn. Every year they send us the license and rabies tag. I think all you have to prove is that your dog is protected from rabies. The titer does that.
