I don't know if you have seen the news on the weather, but the mid-South region, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and a few more areas, are bracing for tornados this afternoon.

If you go to the Weather Channel, or anywhere else, there is a circle of white in middle-TN, where I happen to be located (and other DKers for sure).  That area of white has the greatest chance for tornados and is on high alert.  Schools are closing at noon today.

I am at work, Peri is at daycare 1.5 miles from me.  Tacky is at my parents (yes, we were so scared we took him to grandma's so he wouldn't be alone).  Honestly, freaking out a bit.  They are usually pretty spot on with these reports.  I wish they would just go away!  Of course I don't want them hitting Nashville, but don't want them moving north or south either!  JUST GO AWAY!

This could probably be a blog, but I wanted to get other DKers attention - everyone in the South stay safe today and tonight!

UPDATE:  DH's office is closing at NOON - he is an attorney, so that's a big deal.  Thank God he is picking up dogs and going home to the basement.  My work has a basement, so we should hopefully be okay.  Fingers crossed.

Death toll is up to eight in southern Indiana. There were five deaths in Kentucky and one in Ohio. This is just terrible.

A reminder of how powerless we can be and how fragile life is.

Devastating.

Who hasn't checked in yet, looks like this was a pretty dreadful storm.  One whole town flattened according to the BBC news I heard here in the middle of the night.  Very much hoping  you are all safe.

I was thinking the same thing Nicky.  I hope people let us know if they're okay.

I was checking in to see if everyone is ok. My home state of Indiana got hit pretty hard. Hope everyone is doing fine this morning.

Is everyone ok? This must have been so scary!!

Here in California, we live with the threat of earthquakes.  Because they happen "without warning", one can only be prepared in the general sense - no way to hunker down and try to be safe for any particular quake.  In a way, that's a good thing.  I cannot imagine the fear and feelings of helplessness you all who deal with hurricanes and tornadoes must feel - knowing it's on the way, not knowing its particular path, waiting for the "shoe to drop".

This round of storms has been devastating!  Hope all you DK'ers have come through okay.  I'm thinking of you all!

Devastating!  Hoping and praying that everyone is OK.

I had this link to give Lucy and Sophie's Mom a critique on her safe area.

Just in case you all need an update

A lot of new information has come about in recent years.  A lot of old myths gone.
