Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So we have a one year old Goldendoodle who was trained to use the potty bell to let us know when he has to go to the bathroom. Well, after a few months we got in such a routine of about taking him out at certain times and he had no accidents for MONTHS! That we just decided to take away the bell. Well every so often he will pee or poop just randomly, not even attempting to go toward the door. So my question is, would we need to retrain he to use the bell if we decide to use that again or not because he knew how to use it so quickley before??

We never took the bells down and they are used (and abused) on a daily basis. My older one is 3.5, the younger is 1.5 and they both use it to let us know they need (or want) to go out. It was probably a bit confusing for your puppy to realize the bells were gone one day and he did not know how to let you know he needs to go out. I would put the bells back and reintroduce him by starting the same routine you did when you were teaching him to ring the bells. He should remember it pretty quickly.
Gavin rarely rings anymore because we take him out on our schedule. However he has used them when he needs out to throw up (tmi?). It seems strange that you doodle is suddenly having accidents again. I wonder if he has a uti or something?
