Hi everyone,
Sorry about the other post! Anyway, my dog was diagonosed with a yeast infection and the vet gave us miconazole (spelling?). I think i probably could have bought it at cvs for a lot cheaper....it's a jock itch treatment!?! So....problem is, it looks like it's irritating her ears....they are more red now that we started the treatment. I'm calling the vet again later today (at work now...) but wanted to know if any of you have had any issues with this treatment as well. Let me know your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks!!
Be careful. Yeast infections are very contageous. The only one I ever had I got from my son when he was an infant. He had a yeast infection and a week later I had it. I asked my doctor how I could have gotten a yeast infection from my son and he said "Do you wash your hands with soap and water every time you change or check his diaper?" After that I became much more responsible about washing my hands frequently. Also, I wash my hands well before and after using the bathroom, especially when I was teaching kindergarten. Cost for meds? My labradoodle has been on lots of meds and I found the cheapest place to get them was at the pharmacy at Costco. Check around. The pharmacy that you use with your own insurance prescriptions is probably one of the most expensive. And, have your vet give you a written prescription rather than calling it in. Makes it easier to check prices by telephone before you pick up the prescription.
