Shortly after one of our Doodle Kisses members lost her dood to an auto accident, someone sent out that wonder tribute to the dog"...she's your friend, companion...... you're her provider protector....."  I can't remember the whole thing but I have a very dear friend who had to have his 16 year old chow put to sleep today and I was going to send that to him.  I thought I had it on my computer but since that was sent out, I have gotten a new computer and can't find it anywhere.  If someone has a copy of that I would so much appreciate it if you'd send it to me at my email address:  roxibybaby@hotmail.com.  Thank you so much.  I'm sure it will be a great comfort to him and his wife.

CeeGee,Keith and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and may the peace and grace of God by yours at this holiday season and throughout the year.

Is this the quote you're looking for?

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dog. There are lots of tributes and memorial poems for dogs who have gone to the bridge, fairly easy to find on-line.
I like this one:
A Dog’s Plea
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for although I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.
