Has anyone heard of this insurance company?
Hi Roberta, Wow – I have something very special to share with you. I love pet insurance in general and I've seen it save many pets lives by allowing pet owners to do the best for their pet.

Very interesting. I like that the premium will not increase due to age and that, the way I read it, there is only one lifetime deductable. I should have purchased insurance on Zack before he developed allergies. That is a large expense and none seem to cover pre existing conditions even after a period of time.
I have insurance with Trupanion for both boys and have since we got them last year. I did a lot of research and liked that their pre-existing clause was what I considered "normal". With some, it reset every year. You had a condition one year, treatment the following year was considered pre-existing. That is beyond dumb. There is no annual limit. Hip dysplasia and alternative therapies are excluded from coverage unless you add them. I did and it was like $5.00 a month. They pay 90% of treatment meaning they do not pay for the office visit but do the treatment (x-rays, meds, etc). There is a one page form that you send in with every bill. We've only had one issue and, after the vet wrote a "you've got to be kidding me letter", they called me to apologize for the misunderstanding. Said the person who told me it was needed was new and it would never happen again. It never has. They send an email when they get the claim, tell me what they are waiting on. Another email when they receive whatever it was and one when they are sending a check. There is no hassle about what is "usual and customary" or any kind of fee schedule. They pay what the vet bills factoring in the 90% etc. I've been very happy with them.
One other thing. The premium may not increase due to age but it will likely increase. Just like people insurance, this is no different. Tank's went up when he turned one but it was a less than $9/month increase.
I have ins with Trupanion which I have never had to use up to this point. One thing they did tell me is that if you have repeat visits for the same issue to submit a claim even if it is less than your deductible, once you have submitted an amount equal to your deductible it is then covered.
I was on a plane sitting next to a vet last winter. We started talking about pet insurance and she said they really like Trupanion in her office. She said they pay claims very well.
