Doesn't take much to bring tears to my eyes these days.  All I have to do is let my mind wonder a little bit and here they come.  This morning though Miss Sophie was working on my heart!  She hasn't been feeling very well at all this week and this morning since about 2:00 am she has just wanted to be outside laying in the frozen grass.  Apparently it feels good on her stomach.  Anyway, the times I took her out overnight I took her on leash so I could get her to come back in.  However, most of the morning she has been outside just laying, sniffing, and looking around.  She might woof, but rarely gets up to go check anything out.  Mike had brought her in while I was at the gym because it started snowing really hard.  As soon as I got back she wanted out again so I let her out since it had stopped snowing.  After about 45 mins out there and my trying unsuccessfully several times to get her to come in, I heard a little woof and went to look and there was her little face looking in the back door.  I was like finally.  So, when I opened the door she just stood there.  She didn't want to come in, she wanted Lucy to come out and keep her Company.  I called Lucy and she came, but really didn't want to go out.  I finally convinced her to go out, and she just went out to Sophie and they both layed down.  Lucy has gotten pretty used to the fact that Sophie really can't play much.  They might run across the back yard (slowly) together but that is about it.  Sophie just needed some company.  Sorry, no pictures, but I'm not sure I would have been able to capture the feeling on film anyway.  It is just the sweetest thing seeing them together like that!

It is so sad. But it's so nice that your girls have each other for company. I hope Sophie gets some of her oomph back soon. How far along is she in her treatment now?

F -- She had treatment #13 of 26 yesterday.  She got this treatment about 4 days early as this was supposed to be her off week.  She has been going downhill the last couple weeks.  She has lost 8 lbs in the last three weeks.  Thank goodness she gained that weight when she first went on the prednisone.  If this extra shot doesn't bring the lymph nodes down by tomorrow they are going to order in another drug.  It is a rescue drug that is normally used when a dog pops out of remission or they are having trouble getting them into remission.  Right after I posted this I went and made my lunch.  I was heated some Tyson grilled chicken for my salad and she actually ate a little bit of it.  Maybe about 2 ozs.  That is the first time in 2 weeks that she has eaten anything this early in the day so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe this early treatment is going to help a little.  I'd be one happy Doodle Momma if it did.

Well there are certainly tears in my eyes right now.  No, you did not need pictures to show how sweet this posting is and how loving these Doodles can be.  I can just picture Lucy sitting next to Sophie and giving her some love and companionship. Prayers and love to all of you!

Well, this made me tear up. It tugged at my heart strings, too. I hope Sophie feels better soon and what a sweet sister Lucy is to Sophie.  Dogs always amaze me. Hugs to all of you and I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Ditto...I'm tearing up too.  Lucy is a very special sister.  I only wish there was something I could do to help you Sherri.  All I can do is say I think you're amazing and I hope I'll be this strong if my guys ever have to go through something like this.

Sheri, I know they sell cooling mats for dogs. Do you think something like this would make Sophie more comfortable?

What is it they say about like minds ....   Anyway a couple weeks ago on a Saturday when she was running a fever and wanting to lay outside in the single digit temps I searched all over Cincinnati and finally found one.  She won't lay on it.  I'm not sure why, but she just doesn't seem to like it.

maybe cover it with a familiar towel or light blanket/sheet? my thoughts are with you.

I have a sheet over it.  I've tried it both ways.  I think that right now because it is so cold outside the floor (wood) is actually cooler than the bed.  I was sitting on it with her a lunchtime trying to get her to eat and I was like wow, that is cool.  So her preferences must be outside or on the cool floor.  Whatever makes her happy.  I bet Lucy will like to cool bed this summer when it is 90.

Darn it. I thought I had come up with a great solution for Sophie. These Doodles know their own minds.

Oh, that's so sweet.  I hope Sophie gets some energy back soon, but it's clear that Lucy understands, and will just hang out with her if that's what Sophie needs.

it's so sweet they have one another...especially through the tough times. warm hugs and kisses for the both of them xo
