Doesn't take much to bring tears to my eyes these days. All I have to do is let my mind wonder a little bit and here they come. This morning though Miss Sophie was working on my heart! She hasn't been feeling very well at all this week and this morning since about 2:00 am she has just wanted to be outside laying in the frozen grass. Apparently it feels good on her stomach. Anyway, the times I took her out overnight I took her on leash so I could get her to come back in. However, most of the morning she has been outside just laying, sniffing, and looking around. She might woof, but rarely gets up to go check anything out. Mike had brought her in while I was at the gym because it started snowing really hard. As soon as I got back she wanted out again so I let her out since it had stopped snowing. After about 45 mins out there and my trying unsuccessfully several times to get her to come in, I heard a little woof and went to look and there was her little face looking in the back door. I was like finally. So, when I opened the door she just stood there. She didn't want to come in, she wanted Lucy to come out and keep her Company. I called Lucy and she came, but really didn't want to go out. I finally convinced her to go out, and she just went out to Sophie and they both layed down. Lucy has gotten pretty used to the fact that Sophie really can't play much. They might run across the back yard (slowly) together but that is about it. Sophie just needed some company. Sorry, no pictures, but I'm not sure I would have been able to capture the feeling on film anyway. It is just the sweetest thing seeing them together like that!

Thanks everyone for all your kinds words and thoughts and prayers. I didn't mean to make everyone cry today. It just touched me so when she wanted Lucy out there with her and I felt I wanted to share.
Sheri, we are all glad you did.
The way I figure it, we are part of a Doodle family and we care when one of our own is hurt or sick!
Sheri, it touched us too. So sweet. Thank you for sharing. What's that poem? "Shared tears are sacred tears." Or something like that.
That is such a sweet story ..So nice of Lucy to go comfort Sophie. What a good girl.
That cooling mat is interesting I never heard of that before- too bad she wasn't a fan.
Thanks for updating I often wonder how you are making out. I am glad she ate a bit..
Oh, this tugs on my heart strings too. You're girls are so sweet and such a bonded pair of sisters! Now somebody hand me a tissue!
No need for photos Sherri, I can picture it perfectly in my minds eye. Good for Lucy to look after her sister. Sending healing thoughts your way.
This warms my heart. It makes me tear up thinking of it, but I can see my two doing the same thing. Thinking of you all.
That is such a touching story and you painted the picture beautifully without any images needed.
I can picture this in my mind and it is a special picture. Sophie's illness and treatments must be so hard for you. I am so glad that Sophie has owners who are in tune with her wishes and needs then do as much as possible to keep her comfortable something, and a sister to do it with. I feel a special bond with you because we have shared our other dogs injuries/surgeries. Your California dk family is sending you love.
