First I wondered if anyone could tell me when we will know how much our little Oscar will shed?  He has what I would consider more of a "doodly" coat with a wave.  Do they lose their puppy coat?

Next do any of you have pups that tinkled on new people?  I am so embarassed that he keeps "leaking" on people when he gets excited?  Please tell me that you have had dogs that outgrow that???

Thanks so much for your input!!!

1.   There's no way to predict a doodle's adult coat--at least not with certainty. What kind of doodle is your Oscar?  By his photos he looks like he'll have a nice coat.  Does he shed NOW?  If not he probably won't start shedding, but yes they do lose their puppy coat and it may come in curlier or just longer and thicker.  Usually during the time of puppy coat change is a time when doodles mat lots and you may need to keep him trimmed shorter or risk needing to shave him down because of mats.

2.  Submissive urination or glee pee is common among puppies.  It usually goes away with maturity.  The best thing is for new people to ignore him for a bit and not to hover over him when greeting him.  When my 2 year old female had that issue we started having people meet her outside, that way if she peed it would be okay...then we'd bring her inside.

I agree with Adina and will will add- Tell people not to talk in a high pitched baby voice.  Most people, including myself will automatically do this. I've found it to immediately cause urination if a pup is prone to it. It's common when puppies are very excited. Glee pee, LOL!! That's the first I've heard that term, Adina!
Charlie ( Now 2 years old ) used to tinkle everytime when my daughter's friend Sarah come over.  She liked Sarah, and she was so excited to see her. Then, everyone left for college and this problem stopped, until this holiday!! When the kids and their friends came home from college, Charlie was over joyed and tinkled.... :- (
Oscar is an F1 Goldendoodle.  One of the reasons I chose him was that he had the most "doodly" coat of the boys in his litter.  He sheds almost nothing right now but now I am worried now that I hear his coat will change!  He is about 15 weeks old now...  When does the puppy coat change happen?
