Hi all,
We are getting items ready for our new pup and was wondering if you have any recommended hairbrushes for this breed. My dog will have a wavy coat.

Thanks for any info you can provide,
Elizabeth

Congratulations on your new puppy. How exciting. I use the Chris Christensen brush for everyday brushing. I also use the Les Poochs mat zapper when needed. And I also have 2 steel combs that I use. One is small for her face.

Ditto!

I'm also a Chris Christensen T-brush user, along with the Les Pooches green brush.  Steel combs are also good - I use the CC Buttercomb and one with rotating tines.  Join the Doodle Grooming group!  Tons of good discussions about grooming tools and products there, too.

If you're considering something like a Les Pooches, my suggestion is to wait until your doodle's adult coat comes in (usually around a year old), because the adult coat might be very different than the puppy coat - or at least just know you might need something different than the brush you start out with.  Regardless of brush type, start brushing/combing the puppy right away so he/she gets used to being groomed...most doodles need lots of grooming so it's much easier when the they tolerate (or even enjoy) it.  :)  Congratulations on your new puppy!

I also use the t-brush Chris Christensen, steel comb and also rotating tooth comb (which is super cheap and works so great) the double red Les Pooches for body and ears and the single yellow Les Pooches that I bought from breeder when Charlie was a puppy. Beware of Les Pooches and Activet brushes - the tines are super sharp. I would advise any new user to try these brushes on themselves so you are aware of the pressure you are using. Congrats on the new member of your family!

The JW slicker brush works amazing and is very reasonable, I bought a "miracle coat" brush upon recommendation from groomer and the JW is a lot better. https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.petmountain.c...

My groomer recommended the Miracle Brush (Available on Amazon) and I love it!  I have 2-3 Les Pooches brushes and a Chris Christensen, but the Miracle is the best.(I used slicker brushes for years when I showed Cocker Spaniels and Old English Sheepdogs but don't care for slickers on my doodles.) That and a comb with rotating teeth keeps all my long haired fur kids looking great!

What type of Miracle Brush? When I searched Miracle Brush on Amazon, a variety showed up.
I enjoy using "The Wet Brush" on Magnolia after I give her a bath, but my recommendation is buying and using a metal comb before anything else, especially when they are little. I also recommend purchasing a dematting rake to use on stubborn mats, but regularly combing can eliminate most mats.
