#1 For all of those who donated toward Colby Brown, an autistic boy in NC, receiving Jake the Labradoodle, I want to send out another sincere Thank You and give you an update.
I spoke to Colby's Mom, Missy a few days ago. They did not raise all of the $7000 needed to purchase Jake but did get about 3/4's of the price and added money out of their own pocket. Missy was grateful to all who donated to make the price of Jake more easier on their pocketbooks. Jake, however, did not work out with Colby so they are waiting on another dog to see if he will work out. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I've met the family and they are wonderful. Colby is functioning at a high level and is a very sweet little boy.
# 2 This is in regards to the post about Luke's 2nd round of vaccines when he had a reaction and one of his brothers, Max, had a more severe reaction causing him to become blind. Luke went in for his last round of vaccines, minus the rabies, today. The Vet gave him a shot of Benedryl 15 minutes before the vaccine. Luke was a champ. No reactions and it's been over 6 hrs. He did take a nice little "Benedryl" nap but he hasn't had the UBER HYPER behavior like he did a month ago. Elmo, the other brother, took his 2nd vaccine with NO trouble, once again proving litter mates are as different as we are to our siblings.
# 3 I'm moving right along with my Vet. assistant online classes and I'm learning ALOT and reviewing everything I forgot while hanging around the vet. hospital where my mother worked for 30 + years. I'm doing this because I eventually want to operate a dog daycare and overnight boarding out of my home. The playground is being built now and we should be done with it next week. Hopefully we'll get some good weather soon so I can host a big DOODLE ROMP here in the middle of NC. Ya'll are all invited!! My house is easy to get to from a major Interstate and there are some hotels nearby. Maybe I can make some arrangements for lodging discounts/dog friendly rooms if there is enough interest for the overnight travelers. I will keep everyone posted.
