Buck is no longer available for adoption! Why you ask? Because we couldn't stand it any longer and adopted him ourselves! My DH said we just couldn't have another dog - 4 traveling in an RV is just too many he said. Our yard is just too small he said. This is just not the right time he said. I agreed - intellectually. I decided my deadline was Thursday. If no one had adopted him by then, well ..... My real personal deadline was after this weekend, but my DH came home from work and said, Let's go!" So we loaded the dogs and our home-from-college son into the car and took off. Ned and I introduced Buck to my DH, son and our other dogs. Buck appears to have been loved at one time. He was chipped, neutered and socialized. Then... for some reason he was abandoned in a nearby town and put into a kill shelter. When he was put on the list for Euthanasia, the pet adoption center took him in. He has some mats and has hair blocking his eyes and he stinks but he is sweet, doesn't counter surf, isn't aggressive. We are having some jostling for pecking order. He is off to the groomer tomorrow so we will get to see what he really looks like. Really fun news is that he and Ned were born on the same day - March 17, 2008. Now I have two St. Patrick's Day babies. I will post after-the-grooming photos and tell you his new name.
Way to go Nancy ...... I cannot believe that he was still there! I'm proud of DH for knowing it was truly what you both truly wanted and just going for it! Can't wait for more pics.
Riverside is gorgeous. He was just waiting for you to make up your mind. He was there all along. Maybe it isn't the pecking order thing... maybe they are just telling him he stinks and "LOOK OUT--MOM HAS A BRUSH AND SHE'S NOT AFRAID TO USE IT"
Can't wait to see the updates.
Nancy--Me too! Starlit will let me brush her also. Isn't this great. I have yet to try Mane & Tail to see if Spud gives her a hard time about how she smells. :)
It is meant to be then. At least we can brush ONE dog each now. It took me all of 10 mins. Spud takes days. One leg at a time.
Woo Hoo!!!! I am so excited for you, and for "Buck". I've been wondering about him...he's absolutely spectacular (or he will be later today). Another St. Patrick's Day Doodle...it just doesn't get any better. I can't wait to hear more. You just made my day, Nancy!
Yay yay yay yay! This has made my day. Buck is ADORABLE - how fantastic is it that he and Ned have same bdays. It was meant to be. Kudos to you for rescuing him :) I can't believe he wasn't adopted by then!
