I think I told you how Milo was pretty excited to get his deer antler at Christmas and was gnawing at it for a few days enthusiastically, but apart from a few scratches, they seemed to be like the sterilized bone he had brought with him from the breeder.

Well, we got him a flat moose antler (expensive! $15.00 for a piece that was about two inches by 4) and he LOVED it. After reading the concern about teeth chipping, I have ben keeping an eye on both him and the antler.

The first thing I noticed is that unlike the deer antler, this one was much softer. Within a few minutes he had the inside exposed, and the inside is soft and fibrous, like a well chewed bully stick. It looks spongy, soft and stringy. The other thing is that he has been able to chew away about half of the antler. He is still completely gaga over them, and I am saving one for later this evening, when my son has friends over, and I want Milo to be a little, ummmm, distracted :)

So my decision is that this might be the best chew for us. I think that I can justify getting him one a month, and it might even last a couple of weeks longer.

Hope this helps those wondering if they are worth checking out.

Thanks! After a $1,000 tooth extraction, I'm leery to give mine regular antlers again, but they loved them, so this sounds like a good option!
