Several of you asked about whether DVGRR was able to rescue any of the "moms" when they took in the 21 Doodle Kids. It looks like they did. I just got this response in my email and thought I would share it:

Dear Cheryl,
Thank you from the bottom of our Golden hearts for your wonderfully kind and encouraging words. We never handled Doodles before so we weren’t sure what we were getting into but no matter the risk, we were moving forward at a rapid pace for fear of what might happen.
We rolled onto the “breeder” property and were met by a few people who were poised to hand-off the pups. We received several puppies and some adults, so hopefully we got a few out of the breeding cycles. We have our ears and eyes poised for more action if warranted.
In closing, we are delighted to have your support and if we can be of service to your organization, please call on us.
Many thanks.

Here are a couple of photos of Miss Lisa Marie -- one of the doodle moms who was rescued. I wasn't sure if she was a poodle or a small golden doodle until I saw that doodle smile!! Here she is enjoying some "girl time" probably for the first time in her young life. Get out the kleenex!
I was laughing the other day, reading some of the posts of the volunteers who had never met a doodle before. They were describing how different these pups were from their retriever pups. They were learning all about doodles -- like the "doodle zoomies," doodle hugs and kisses, and how the pups take the balls and toss it around by themselves if no one's available to throw the ball. All the stuff we already know and love about our doodles they were seeing for the first time. When I first wrote them, I mentioned DK and how thankful we were that they took these pups. Just thought I'd share.

Thank you for keeping us updated! What a sweet face.....both the volunteer and the doodle!! Bless them all!
I know! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that first photo. Kind of says it all doesn't it!! Now THERE'S a calendar photo!!!!!!
Thanks for posting this, Cheryl! I'm so glad these doodles are in good hands!
That is so fantastic to read and to know that these gorgeous Doodles at least have been saved and are being loved, good news indeed : )
Thanks for sharing.....this makes me smile.
That first photo says it all...that is one HAPPY Doodle! I would have been there to help in a heart beat if I didn't live in San Diego! That would have been a wonderful place to donate my time...very willingly too!
aw this is so great!
Thanks for the update Cheryl. What a wonderful organization.
From the note you received it sounds like the breeder is still in operation? Is that your understanding too?
Sadly, that is what I think. The rescue group cannot identify the breeder nor any of the details because they risk being sued and their ability to get dogs out of bad situations might be compromised. It sounds like they took as many as were surrendered.
I was afraid of that! It sounds like this organization will be ready to help again if need be so that is comforting to know.
Ricki, you reminded me of this old children's story ... A little boy and his father were walking along the beach. It promised to be a beautiful day. The night before, a storm had pounded the beach, leaving behind debris, seaweed and starfish.
The little boy, knew that the starfish would die if they remained out of the water and began to throw them back into the surf.
The boy's father gestured down the beach and said, "Son, there are hundreds, thousands of starfish. It doesn't make a difference. You can't save them all."
Holding up the starfish in his hand, the little boy said "To this starfish, it makes a difference!", and he threw it into the water. :)
