Does anyone know of a doodle rescue in the DC Metro Area? A co-worker needs to rehome her 16 month old male goldendoodle. Any suggestions would be helpful. I don't want this pup to be taken to the pound.

Karen, this is what Meghan posted earlier in this discussion:

"Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for the quick responses! I went to see Cooper today and have more details about him. He is actually 7 months old and very sweet. He looks very much like a golden retriever. I've actually never seen a doodle that could easily pass for a golden retriever. He got along really well with my doodle, Bella. He has not been neutered and I really think his attention span will improve once that happens. From what I understand, he hasn't bonded with his female owner and seemed to prefer her husband. He does not like to be put in his crate nor does he like to be left outside. He is in the Woodbridge, VA area and I would be happy to help transport him. Picture to follow."

I think this was the third reply to the discussion...
LOL- that will show you how sleep-deprived I am; I had read that the day it was posted. Thanks.
It looks like one of the excuses was because the dog prefers the Husband, and has not bonded with the female owner.
Can he be boarded at a vet while he gets vaccinated? I know that costs money, but is that an option?
Hi everyone! I just wanted to update you all on Cooper. He is with a fabulous foster mom. For the first time since this all started, I actually have hope for this sweet guy! If you know of anyone who is looking for a doodle pup, please let me know. Whoever adopts him, is going to be so lucky! :0) Thank you everyone for your support and suggestions. I'm so glad we kept this gem out of the pound!
That is AWESOME Meghan - you did a GREAT JOB!! I wish I was able to get another one - I haven't talked DH into it yet :-)
What wonderful news, Meghan! You are awesome!
Thanks! I was happy to do it! Now, I'm waiting to hear about the breeder that Cooper came from. Apparently they swear he is a doodle. And honestly, I believeI saw some doodle traits in him...but he looks so much like a purebred golden retriever that there have already been several GR rescues inquiring about him. Has anyone ever heard of a doodle looking more like one parent? Here is his adoption link: http://members.petfinder.org/~MD213/available.html (you might have to cut and paste)
There are lots of F1 doodles who look very retrieverish. Just like people- we all know someone who looks exactly like one parent with no traces whatsoever of the other parent.
The info in his listing is very sad. I hope Cooper gets a fabulous home with people who will love him for who he is and give him the kind of care every dog deserves.
Meghan, thank you so much for helping him.
I almost cried reading that. Owner going on vacation and instead of boarding thought they'd just give him up?? Good grief.
No matter what, I am sure the rescue org. he is with will help him find a wonderful home.
Again, thanks for doing that. Think about the amount of happiness you will bring his new family (and to his life also!).
That's definately different from what Meghan was told. Thought the reason was he wasn't bonding with his female owner and only the husband. Either way Meghan deserves major praise for getting this boy out what ever the reason. Way to go Meghan.
I also suspect the owner bought into some of the hype about doodles, including the fluffy teddy bear look and the non-shedding. Unfortunately, she didn't do her homework before running out and buying a puppy.
But as Joe says, whatever the reason, Cooper has a much better, brighter future in store, and he owes that to Meghan.
