Since getting Bruin this past week, I have already noticed urine burn marks in the grass.  I don't recall this ever happening with Bailey when she was a puppy.

Has anyone ever tried any of the products you can spray on their grass to help? I won't give him the treats that are supposed to help so I am looking for something to "sprinkle on the tinkle"!

The only thing I know of that helps is to hose down the spot immediately after the dog goes.

No, what kind of products? I just live with the burn marks and eventually reseed if need be.

Is it as simple as just rinsing? Have a watering can and just water the area to dilute it a little? Might help...

I've never done it, because like F, it just isn't important to me, but others here have said a watering can works.

The funny thing is, a little bit of urine actually helps the grass, I believe because of the nitrogen. I notice that the grass around the trees and poles on the parkways where male dogs lift their legs is actually thicker and greener than the adjacent grass. But too much concentrated in one spot will burn it. Just like fertilizer, I guess.

I once had a beautiful sod lawn in my back yard but no more - but my doodles mean more to me than the grass :)  Like Karen and F said just water the spot where they pee.  I have large patches of dirt, I fence off small areas and reseed etc.  I am always chasing bare patches and I will never win :)

Will have to try the watering can approach to see if that works.  I wonder if puppy tinkle is more concentrated since they can't drink as much water as an adult dog...

I suspect that males just pee in a more narrow area but I have no proof. But puppies drink as much as they need to keep their urine as it should be, they just would have a smaller volume.

My neighbor tried the pills that were suppose to not burn the lawn but she said they did not work, she had two Rottweilers.

I would ignore every word of this article except for the part about using water on the grass. The rest of it is pure hokum, as is most of the info on the Mercola site. :)

Really? Ok, thanks for the heads up!...maybe I should just delete the link?
I deleted the link Karen is talking about, after finding out, it was less than" truthful". Thanks Karen!

I love the fact that sometimes, Spud kills just enough grass along the fence line that I do not have to weed

In fact, as Karen once mentioned, male dogs, once they lift their legs, kill less grass than females because of the spray effect - versus all one spot.
