Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have a 6.5 month old Goldendoddle and a 6 yr old PapillonDoddle. For the last week I have had accidents about every other day and then a couple. The 6 yr old female used to spray whenever men arrived but yesterday she urinated on the down comforter when my son told her to get down. The puppy was kept in the kitchen with hard floors so had no accidents for months. I am ready for suggestions how to resolve the situation.
My son, his wife & 2 & 4 yr old daughters are here overnight about 50% of the time. The girls love the dogs until they get tired of them. My son & his wife don't pay much attention to the puppy & if they do they holler @ him.
I am blotting the urine out & them saturating with biokleen BAC-OUT. Are you in agreement with what I am using. To my nose the scent is gone after applying BAC-OUT.

Do you know which dog is having accidents? If this is a new behavior you may want to have the urine checked to be sure it's not a UTI. I have never used that product, but in looking online it looks like it should be effective. I always found that if the dogs had an accident on the carpeted floor I needed to use an actual cleaning machine in addition to using an enzymatic cleaner to get all traces of odor out. Our noses are not as sensitive as our dogs' so it is possible that they are still picking up a scent and think that's where they should be going. If you know which dog is doing it, and it you've ruled out UTI, you may want to restrict access to the carpeted area for awhile.
My daughter has a small female rescue (Yorkie mix) who is dominant - lifts leg etc. She pees as a dominance thing - over another dog's pee, on plants, walls - like a male might. At her house it is usually the bathroom rug, at my house it is on the carpet outside my bedroom door or in the dining room. This is not an appealing trait (I would love to yell at her!) so when she visits we try to limit her access to carpeted areas using baby corrals stretched out and ex-pens opened up to block her ability to get to her 'favorite' spots. I don't know if you can block your dog's access to her favored areas or not, but it seems to help at my house.
