Vern needs your help.  Fudge once had a bed, long before Vern, called the Coolaroo bed.  She wouldn't step foot on that bed.

The bed sat around in our house for a bit and finally I moved it outside in the hopes that a friendly woodchuck or fawn would find it accommodating for their needs and drag it off our property.  No such luck and the bed just sat outside unused and unwanted.

Then along came Vern!

He fell in love with that bed.  He has never slept in the bed, but he loves to dig on it and roll around on it and chew an occasional bone on that green bed. If he is stressed when Grandma is here and sitting on his other chair, or newly clean from the groomers, or feeling happy, or dirty, the first thing he does is jump on that bed and dig and dig and dig. Either that or roll, roll, and roll.  It is like therapy on a green bed for Vern.

Vern has had to defend his bed from vicious predators.

Although Vern appears to be very brave, just like a lion, sometimes his fears get the best of him and that bed is his giant pacifier.  He knows he doesn't have to hide if his bed is available.

Every week when I mop the floors, under Vern's bed is the dirtiest place in the house. He has wrecked so many covers that we have had to order more, at least seven times.  Amazon prices have gone up on the covers because of supply and demand. Little do they know it is only one dog who is the cause of the increase in sales. His name is Vern!

Right this very minute, here is what Vern's bed looks like. When he digs, he hits the floor now.

We have the cover. We are just waiting for someone to put the cover on.  The man who lives here is a procrastinator. He keeps promising to get around to doing it. The woman who lives here claims she doesn't know how to put the new cover on.  Vern needs help.

Oh poor Vern!

Thanks, Elizabeth.

This is positively tragic. But, good friend that I am, I have a solution. Tell the man of the house, much as I love him like a brother, that since the old bed is not functional, you have to buy a whole new one. That should solve the problem. They just don't make them like they used to, be it beds or husbands. Lovely photos!

F, LOL...I will tell him his sister said to do it or else :)

Now that's a "manly" bed....my boys are so jealous.

Jane, Vern is very manly :)

You are either the best doodle mom ever or the biggest chump ever.  After the second destroyed cover, I'm pretty sure I would have said to Sedona, "Okay, that's it.  No more Coolaroo for you!" - no matter how therapeutic it may be!  Vern is SO LUCKY to have you for his mommy!

Deanna, I love that bed and it is worth every cover. Vern reserves his digging in the house to that bed and not my carpets. When he is especially dirty he digs and rolls and most of the dirt falls off right under that bed in one spot and makes my life easier. Nope, that bed has been a godsend for our Vern and I will continue to buy covers forever. LOL

Poor Vern. How can you say I will continue to buy covers forever, and then make the poor guy suffer because you won't don't know how to put them on ? Oh poor Vern, he's like an owl bird that has fallen from it's nest !    Sad face.... no squiggles.... or sparkles !

LOL....another owl reference :) He took care of the bed today. Vern is now :) not :(  That is the extent of what I know how to do. LOL

Thank goodness it is re-covered ! No more OWL references for now  I promise ! lol

Aw poor Vern!!!
