They call it "temperament testing" and I believe they go by things we mentioned in our application; for example, i have 4 small daughters so a puppy that is laid back with children is key. Also I mentioned that I want a dog that will sit on my lap and let me snuggle, so they'll likely take that into account too. They may have a more technical method, but I am not sure on the specifics. www.manorlakelabradoodles.com is the website they might have more details somewhere on the site. i trust the breeders, they've been doing what they're doing for longer then I've been picking which puppy I think is the cutest, LOL!
I think it's great that they do this. It should really help you to get a puppy that is a perfect fit for your family. I think you're right....most of us just go for the one we think is the cutest!
We have had Chewie for four weeks now (he will be 12 wks tomorrow) and he has settled in and become a member of the family. He is adorable and just full of fun and personality. We had a deposit on his litter since last November. We selected him at 5 weeks and thought we were picking the laid back puppy, but he has turned out to be anything but. He is very lively and thought he was "boss" for a while, but responds to training wonderfully and is definitely learning his "place" in our family. We are so happy we can walk around now without him rushing over to bite our legs...LOL. Choo Choo loves everyone and boy do we love him!
