Hello doodle family,
Still dealing with dark skin issues and sometimes else now..
Sam has a bold spot on his back now.3 days ago we had appoiment with dermatologist for his skin/hair .Few weeks ago he lost his hair .about 1 “ diameter on his back leg.I was told by dermatologist he maybe had a bad reaction to rabies vaccine. He did biopsy in 3 places. One to see if he has a bad reaction to vaccine ,if he does,he can’t have another one.and 2 to see what exactly is going on with his dark skin and his hair not being to healthy.waiting for results now.
My question: anybody here have experience with something like this?
Is hair growing back ?
I am reading non stop and don’t know what to do.. not know for sure till results are in,but sound like we dealing with “ induce Acopia”
Years ago my one doodle reacted to a vaccine. He lost hair in the area of the shot, about the size of a quarter and when it eventually grew back the hair was a different colour (darker), although over the years it did change back to his normal colour. This same dog also went on to develop seasonal alopecia - his hair falls out in the late fall and winter, leavig him with bald spots around his neck, shoulders, flanks and over the top of his butt. I had him tested for everything and this was the diagnosis we got, mainly because of the distinct season pattern to his hair loss and regrowth. The bald areas get really dry ands clay so in the winter I use a special shampoo and moisturizer to try to keep his skin nice. He also wears a sweater / coat whenever we are outside. It used to really bother me, now it is just one more strange thing about this dog (he has many issues!!). I hope guys get some answers for your boy soon.
