What did you do when your dog would pull on the leash while walking?  I don't want to resort to any other colors yet and am hoping to really work with him.  Sometimes he's perfect and others he's pulling.  I think it goes with the mood of my daughters.  If they are annoyed they have to go on a walk with us, he trots along at their pace.  If they are excited and running, or on their scooters, he's all excited and pulling.

Just wondering what the one thing you do when the pulling starts?  I have been pulling him to the side, getting him back in heel and making him sit and startingover.  It is helping but I just didn't know if this was helpful.

We use the the Easy Walk Harness on both Lexi and Billy. It is magic,  not sure why or how but it worked the minute we put it on. If I use their collar as an attachment point they start to pull again. I believe they just resist some restraint around their neck, but attachment at their chest is just fine.  Try it.................Our friend Cora told us about it and she uses it on her Doodle and Poodle as well, loves it.

Trick is to follow instructions and adjust it properly.

My daughter's boxer is on the Easy Walk harness - believe me it's the best invention on the market. We thought about it but really it's just a matter of preference, either struggle to achieve perfection with leash and collar or go this route which everyone loves.
I don't see the difference if you use an Easy Walk or not, if I had it to do all over again I would use it and not bother with the other, but we put so much work into the loose leash, no pull that it seems like it would be a waste. Bottom line is not pulling.

The Easy Walk is a great Invention!

But I do want Trixie to be able to walk well, no matter what collar she has on.

Also the Easy Walker is not allowed in the CGC test...if that is ones goal.  And that is my Goal with Trixie

I had the easy walk harness and while it worked better than a flat collar (prior to him being fully loose leash trained), I stopped using it.    I know alot of people on here swear by the easy walk and thats great as long as the dog isn't pulling but what has been discovered is that dogs that continue to pull with these harness-type collars on have shoulder problems eventually.    My dog would pull to the left (rather than out in front of me) so I feared he'd eventually have left shoulder pain/problems.     Just a little something to be aware of.   If your dog doesn't pull with one on - by all means - continue to use it.  :-)
I have been walking Henry with a regular type harness on because I felt bad with it pulling on his neck.  I guess that probably is not correct either.  :(
Regular harnesses ENCOURAGE pulling.  I hate seeing dogs pull and choke on their collars too.  I use a choke chain in training and for walks...but again the dog never gets to the pulling portion but instead gets a correction that's quick and attention getting before they are pulling at the end of the leash.  They learn very quickly it pays to stay within the bounds of the leash length and NOT to try to reach beyond that.  They learn to care where I am relative to them and to keep an eye on me (even if out of the corner of their eye) and I don't use a single 'attention' or 'watch me' command because they learn to take responsibility for that on their own.

It's so vague and intriguing at the same time what you are doing.  HA HA

Yeah, I had a feeling the harness was not real helpful.

I KNOW!  I'm not trying to be vague to be mysterious but to be responsible about what I 'instruct' in a public forum.  It's easy for things to get taken out of context and for people to 'try' something without knowing the full big picture of a training program that relies on context =)  I'll send you a private message =)

It is a very intense program that requires a lot of commitment.  So it's not something you can just use a portion of and call it good.  It needs to be done completely and not everyone needs or wants such a program.

Sasha pulled like crazy until I got the collar that goes around their nose.  Instantly she was walking by my side and no pulling.  I tried everything as well for a long time and nothing worked.  Oliver has two different collars the harness kind that you clip the leash on in the middle of his chest and the kind that goes around thier nose.  I found the chest kind works best for him.  But both kind worked immediately and we all can enjoy our walks :)
