What are the top things we need to educate about?

Hi DK friends!

DK started an Instagram account just over a week ago and I'm trying to intersperse bits of education between photos. So far we've shared info on:

-- finding a rescue
-- choosing a responsible breeder
-- why doodles are not "hypoallergenic"

Now we can break each of these down into smaller bits of info and CONTINUE to educate on specifics, but wondering what you think are top priority OTHER topics worth doing education on via social media?  Some ideas I have are on poodle facts/history and retriever facts/hx for the sake of education on the parent breeds...but what else?

What should other doodle owners and potential doodle owners know?  What do you want to shout from the mountain tops?

The saddest thing was the owner's description of him afterwards. That's the part I'll have nightmares about.

And that is the part I have nightmares about too. That poor dog. I hugged the dogs so tightly after reading it that I think they thought I had lost my mind. Can we just bubble wrap them and keep them in a padded room, please?

Ugh why did I look this up, so sad :(

I saw a video of a man standing beside the concrete ledge, Riley could easily jump that I can see how a dog might fall.  

It's hard to find off leash areas for a dog to run around inside the city... I'm in the outer suburbs and it's still hard.  If it's an on-leash only area though I can see how the company would be reluctant to spend the money on higher barriers.

It's on top of one of the fancier apartment complexes downtown, and I think they use the rooftop park for things like weddings too, so I can kind of understand if they didn't want to fence off the view. It's just a tragedy. I know I would never get over that.

Ah yeah, that makes sense.  It does look like a nice space.

Danger for our pups can happen anywhere.. there have been incidents at the dog parks here of people leaving poisoned food out, intentional piles of broken glass... it's best to always be vigilant.

They could have put up plexiglass or whatever they use in the lookouts here in the skyscrapers. I doubt it's fancier than the Willis Tower.

Oh, yes. I'm in Shawnee. I finally made it down to Bar K for a class. It's on Friday at 6:30. The class itself is fine, it's in an enclosed are of the park, but I'm sad to say that I wasn't a huge fan of Bar K itself. It was very crowded and I really felt like people were eating and drinking and socializing and paying no attention to their dogs. I feel like it's another accident waiting to happen. I know I'm more vigilant than a lot of people, but I couldn't go somewhere like that and take my eyes off my dog. It's not even that I don't trust my dogs. I don't trust anyone else or their dogs. But maybe it would be better at a different time.

Jasper's sister goes to Bar K with her owner. But she never takes her eyes off her.

It really might be better at a different time. Friday after work is probably prime time. I would still worry. Although they do have a small dog area, and that might be significantly less stressful.

Too bad.  It sounded like a fun idea.  But I did wonder if there would be those people that drink to much and bring a crazy dog.  Bad combination..

I wanted to love it too. If you look at their FB reviews they're mostly positive, but it sounds like there have been a few incidents. It's probably fine most of the time, but that one time... I would probably decrease the number of dogs there by half, then double the number of staff. Plus, there's no temperament testing before they go in. And it's not like a 60 acre park. It's pretty tight in there. They just asked if my dog was aggressive, I said no and they sent me on in. I mean, Willow doesn't have a mean bone in her body, but there are breeds that have certain reputations, and as much as it might make me sound like a bad person, they do make me nervous.
