I have the rest of the week off, DH had Mon and Tuesday as well. Since I had to work he got to clean for company. Fortunately our company consists of DD, SIL their two dogs and us so not much cleaning involved.
Today I did some prep work for tomorrow. Baked the pies, got the mushrooms stuffed, made the brine for the turkey, also prepared the sweet potatoes and cleaned the Brussel Sprouts. Tomorrow should be a breeze. DD is bringing the appetizers.
Our plan is to put the turkey in the oven and head to the park for some dog time fun, hopefully tiring them out for a relaxing dinner and evening.
What are your plans. Are you one of the lucky ones that just goes to a relative or friends home, or are you the one that will be doing the cooking? I can tell you this. I will NOT be doing the dishes.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

I love cooking, Lisa, but don't have time to really indulge in it very often ... and the leftovers are the best part, aren't they?! *grin*
If my Thanksgiving feast this year were being graded, I'd probably earn a D-. We used to "do" Thanksgiving at my parents' house. Mom and Dad did the cooking (I always stirred the gravy), then I'd do the clean-up. As my parents began to age, they were able to do less and less, so I'd bring the food - usually a fully prepared meal from Whole Foods, Marie Calendar, Boston Market, or a local grocery store. It was never as good as the meal my parents would prepare, but far better than any I would ruin attempt. Last year (the first without my dad) we hosted the group at our house - had a great meal from Whole Foods. This year, my daughter, her husband, and my granddaughter are in So. Cal., so it'll be just my mom, my husband, and me. Our "meal" will be a hodgepodge of stuff from the store. Nevertheless, we will be thankful for all of our many blessings!!!
Deanna, enjoy your day. Quiet and no hassles sounds wonderful.
I'll be serving Thanksgiving Dinner with toppers at my house! :)
OMD, are they cat or dog toppers?
My guests will have their choice of course! I'm a gracious hostess!!! :)
LOL Happy Thanksgiving Ricki!
Thanks Lisa! Same to you!!!
LOL, RICKI!
Oh yummo Ricki!!!!
Thanksgiving for the extended family will be at our house this year....oh wait a minute, it's always at our house. I'm in good shape...the house is cleaned, the pies are made, all the veggies are done, the table is set. Tomorrow I just have to worry about the turkey and stuffing....and then I'll be starting on the Bloody Marys. Have a wonderful day DK friends!
As I cleaned each room, I put away all the dog toys so that nobody would break their neck. I now noticed that Murph has taken them all out and spread them around again. Why did he ever learn how to open that toy box....Murph STOP!
