I'm a broken record. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times. I hate winter. It's not my thing. And it's been an extra snowy one this year. Right now it's 15* F and feels like 3*. Yuck. But here we are, having a staycation until Feb. 5th and we're not bored, exactly. Any time I'm off work I'm a happy camper. But I wish it was go for a walk weather instead. The girls are pretty good at couch potato-ing, and frankly so am I. But people must do things in winter. Give me some ideas!

The girls don't seem to mind the weather, but even if I was warm enough I wonder if their feet would be okay to go for a walk. I thought about buying myself one of these - But then I think I need to get the girls snowsuits too! And boots. And hats... So mostly we are just snuggling under the electric blanket watching the Ted Bundy Tapes on Netflix and waiting for spring!

That would be fun to see him stripping off his boots!  Picco knows that boots = snow so he doesn't mind anymore.

That's how Jack was, except it was boots = major ball playing

Karen,

When my late Cairn terrier became old and cranky, she refused to go outside in the cold or wet. I bought strips of sod and kept them in the warm basement before they were used. I cut off a warm piece and put it down right outside the back door, or in the garage if it was really, really cold out, and she went on that with her regular potty cue (a heartfelt "hurry up"). Do you think Jasper might deign to go on toasty real or fake grass?

Fake grass, no. Real grass, maybe, but the chances of getting any at this time are year are slim to none. And I have no basement.

I think I am going to have to wait until it seems like he really has to go (and this is a dog who can "hold it" for 12 hours easy) and then carry him out, give him two minutes, and bring him in whether he does anything or not. And repeat all day, lol. Good thing I'm retired and have nothing better to do. :)

I wouldn't advise fake grass!  My friends yard is fake and the plastic really holds the urine odor!

My guy thinks he is part husky. Cant get him in when it is cold. Snow? He'll lie there until he's covered if I let him.
