Does anyone have experience with elevated ALT levels? What are the causes and whichh commercial food would be better than our current Fromm Chicken a la Veg formula with 24% protein and 15% fat.

Thanks for any help with this issue.

Libby, there are a number of health conditions that can cause an elevated ALT level, some of them fairly serious, and you need to get a reliable diagnosis in order to treat the underlying condition. While we do have a very active Food Group here, nobody on this website is qualified to advise you on the best nutritional balance for a liver condition. I would follow my vet's advice on what to feed, or consult a canine nutritionist...one with the letters DVM after their name. If your vet isn't able to diagnose the problem, I strongly recommend a veterinary internal medicine specialist.

This sounds very sensible. I think your dog may need further testing.
