The semiannual bath for the doodles was overdue. With knees and things I just couldn't quite do it. Honestly, they always look clean, smell good and have no skin problems. Since I had just groomed Calla last night I decided to bring the dogs to Petco for just a bath. There is a self service bath at the Petco over the NY state border but I really wanted just to get the two doodles done. When I got there I found out that $47 only included shampoo, conditioner would be extra. If they found any matts that would be extra. WTD? So off I went and left the dogs. They said it would be two and a half hours but no call. I called them, afraid they had dognapped my doodles. They said the dogs were ready for the last hour or so but they couldn't reach me. They called my cell phone but I was home and got no call there. The doodles were overjoyed to see me . I sort of recognized these fluffy dogs who smelled of cheap perfume. They did feel wonderful to the touch. Now Calla's tags are missing.  All in all not likely to reat this $100 adventure any time soon.
Update 8/14/10  I called Petco this AM. At first they said they had no t ags but when they looked in the back room, voila, tags were found. All in all they are careless but I'm relieved to have gotten the tags back. Now I have a new method of attaching them. Discussion to follow.

What's really funny is that the doodles have been out for the count. They missed their long afternoon naps, and what with all the emotional tension they are exhausted. Neither one of them had been to a "real" groomer since they came to me as puppies.

This might solve the problem in the future with the dog tags on the collar. I like to change Gracie Doodle's collars all the time and it is a real pain and ruins your finger nails changing out the tags. I just found these and I'm going to order a few. Can't yet confirm if they are secure and a good thing or a gimmick!!

Just make sure the closure is secure. I had some I ordered after seeing them on DK. They were not the same kind as yours. They were not sturdy or secure. Luckily they failed right in my yard and no tags were lost. I'd say try them first with a novelty tag or something that you don't care about losing.

I specify no scent with porter cause I feel that perfume on a dog is equivalent to blindfolding a human...and cause like you I think it's not so nice a perfume.
I love petsmart in millburn NJ. Ana especially. Recently paid only 56 for a full haircut minus the bath..hosed him down the day before. It took 2 hrs.
