Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone. I rescued Winston about a year ago, and we were told he was either a goldendoodle or a labradoodle. Is it possible to tell what type of doodle he is by looking at his physical appearance? What type of doodle do you think he is? Is he even a doodle (some people think he is a wheaten terrier)?
Here's some information that may help:
1. He is ultra cream with apricot parti spots.
2. His fur is a mixture of straight, wavy, and curly.
3. He sheds a little.
4. He gets strong body odor within a week of being bathed.
5. He is 40 pounds, full grown.
6. He has a stocky, square appearance, with a flat and wide head.
7. He has dark brown eyes (with crazy long apricot lashes) and a rose colored nose.
8. He is a goof ball and loves to snuggle with cats.
After looking online at hundreds of pictures, I feel that he could either be an Australian Labradoodle or a English-type Goldendoodle, based on the stockiness of his body.
I've attached a few photos, which you can also find in my photo gallery in my profile. Thank you!

I think he's a doodle of some sort. Since he sheds, not a wheaten completely. But no matter, you hit the jackpot because he is adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Winston is extremely cute, regardless of what he is. He looks doodley to me, but what do I know. If you are too curious, it would be fun to do the actual DNA test that you could buy.
I don't know what he is... but he is cute cute cute :) Hope all is well and he adores you
If he was a rescue, it is really impossible to tell what type of dog he is. If you really want to know, have a genetic test done on him. I would say not a lab mix and probably not a standard poodle, but ALD is a possibility. He does look like a Wheaten to me also.
While you are working on your photos, try using a photo program to reduce the resolution of your photos and turn the right way. Then you can place the ones you want to forward in an e-mail photo file and send them as attachments. It is quite easy once you get it down. I save all photos that will be e-mailed at 200 kb resolution and that is a nice workable size, not for copying, but definitely for mailing. And they come up quite quickly.
Hi Lynda. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely do that next time. I hastily posted using my android, so hence the extra large photos that are sideways. ;)
Wheatens only have black pigment, so if there is Wheaten there, it's definitely mixed with something else.
Good point! Also, other people mentioned Wheatens don't shed since they have hair, so Winston is definitely not a Wheaten!
I have 2 ALDs. They look very different to me and their body types are different too. As Karen said, even with ALDs one never knows for sure. Your boy is adorable and looks like a labradoodle to me but go know. Just enjoy him.
OMG, Winston looks alot like your doodles, but maybe that's just me seeing that. Everytime I see an ALD, I think Winston looks just like that...but what do I know!
Calling him an ADORADOODLE is just perfect!
