When my kids were little I was one of THOSE Mom's who picked up the phone to call the Dr for every little thing.....sigh.....what can I say...they were my babies!!!

Banjo is just not himself today.   In a very subtle way though.   He isn't his usual playful, nutty self.  He's kind of quiet, laid back and low energy....with a runny nose...and outside in the cold air he keeps making funny "huff's" through his nose sounds.  Like he's snorting out air.    That's it.   He seems to be eating and drinking normally and eliminating just fine.  I can't tell if he has a temp or not......how do you know???

Soooooo.....instead of rushing to the vet's, I called just  see if the office will be open tomorrow (Banjo's Birthday!!!!! WOO HOO!!!).  They will be in the office til 3....so I guess we'll see how the little guy is feeling tomorrow.   I do worry!!!   Isn't it always right before a weekend or holiday that they get sick???    Fingers are crossed that we won't have to make a visit to the vet's office!

Update on Banjo -  Thanks all of you for your nice notes and concern for our guy Banjo.  It's been a busy holiday weekend and Banjo is acting more like himself.  He does have a weird "reverse sneeze" thing going on....it happens a few times a day AND although his poop is firm...it's a not normal color and looks mucousey (sp??).   We're happy that he's back to his usual antics and are continuing to watch him.  Haven't called the vet yet - waiting to see what today brings.   Today will be his first time in the snow!!!!  Woo Hoo!!!!
Carol, I just read your update about Banjo not feeling well ... I was only on a limited amount during Christmas.  Glad to see he is starting to act more like himself.  And please wish he a belated birthday!
I'm so glad Banjo is acting more like himself.  That reverse sneezing is so bizarre.  The first time it happened with Guinness it scared me half to death.  Did he eat anything different that might have changed the color of his poop?  Hope he loves the snow....my guys had a ball in it this morning!

Hi Jane....I'm sure Guinness and Murphy are in heaven down there in the snow!   Banjo just came in from his first "romp"....OMG....soooo much fun!!!   We've only got about 9" of snow here but it's still coming down.

He's "drying out" in his crate just now.    I have never heard of "reverse sneezing" and after some online searching actually found YouTube videos of it and so was able to find out just what in the world was going on.   DH thinks it may be associated with the dry indoor air.   Even with the pot of water on the wood stove, the indoor air is still very dry.   I've been limiting his food to just his kibble...no treats or table foods...and still the weird - almost greenish- color.    He hasn't "gone" today....so I'm hoping for something more normal. Enjoy the beautiful winter snow!!!!

Snow zoomies are a site to behold, and don't you love the way they "hop" through the deep snow!  Have fun today and here's hoping for some "regular color poop".
Yes I do!   He looks like  a red bunny rabbit!

Just like rabbits really. How much snow did you get? Places near here were repoting from 17 to 29". Ugh!

We didn't get anything that deep!   About a foot here.....I've decided Banjo gets one long yard romp....an hour or so....and the rest of our daily outside trips will be limited to the "cleared" areas of the driveway, walkways and road.   Those ice balls are not easy to get rid of!  : )
When I can I just let them melt since the indoor humidity is so low anyway and the snow, as of now, is very clean. But what we have now is so powdery no ice balls yet.
Yeah for Banjo!  I'll tell ya' one can learn SOOO much from this site!  Reverse sneezing... Glad to hear he loved the snow.. I didn't doubt he would, but THOSE ICE BALLS.... what a pain, and they mat Tori's hair too... Think tomorrow I'm going to try and put a windbreaker on her.  Donna & Quincy put up a pic of a great snow suit I had wanted to get, but didn't get around to it yet... I think it's so worth it - what a pain these balls are!
So glad to hear Banjo is improving and enjoying the snow. Nothing like snow to make a doodle forget all about feeling droopy!!

I am going to contact my neighbor because we discussed reverse sneezing about a year ago and then again the other day.  Her Springers had worms and I think that she said that was an indication.  I'll get back to you.  Glad to hear Banjo is feeling  better!
