Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone! This is my first dog ever and I have no idea what to do... In addition, I don't know which girl goldendoodle to choose! There are three girls from the litter, F1 English Cream Goldendoodles (mom: English Cream Golden Retriever 67 lbs, dad: Standard Cream Poodle 55 lbs) and they're all too cute!

I want a fleecy (slightly curly) coat and wanted to know which puppy would end up the softest, fleecy looking!

If you all have any suggestions for first time dog/doodle owners, PLEASE let me know!!

Puppy 1: The lightest, the biggest

Puppy 2: Has a white splash on her forehead and lighter legs, the middle size of the three

Puppy 3: The darkest, the smallest (look how TINY she is!!)

I'm still taking temperament into consideration when I'm visiting the puppies, but wanted a second opinion in terms of the coat types. No need to elucidate the factors that are vital in both our minds as if I would discern them as unimportant :)

When I picked out my f1 goldendoodle, they were all adorable and it was hard to choose. It was difficult to tell how their coats would turn out. I went with the puppy that was very sweet even though she did not have the deep black nose I wanted. She is now a year old and I see some of her siblings on Instagram. Most tuned out with a wavy coat but there is one that is very shaggy. They all looked the same at 8 weeks so who knew the one would be so shaggy?  I am glad I went with the puppy that the breeder believed would fit my personality. And I love her pinkish nose because I love her!

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you so much! It's helpful that you included your personal experience, I appreciate it! :)))

In terms of appearance alone, the middle one looks to have a slightly wavier coat, so maybe she'll end up a little more curly than the other two, but none of them look like they'll have very curly coats. It's interesting . . . my two labradoodles looked very different in each of their weekly photos posted by their breeders, so you might not really be able to make a prediction based on the photos that you posted alone. If size matters, then maybe that will help you to decide between them. They all look pretty similar.  For me, temperament is the most important factor, so I would clearly articulate to the breeder what you are looking for personality-wise, and then choose based on the breeder's observations of the puppies. They are all very cute!

I see, thank you for this insight! I'm going to visit the puppies this Saturday, but I wanted to get some help in seeing which pup will be the curliest :))

Oh my my my!  I love #1.  I have an English Creme Golden doodle and I think she is the very very best!  Of course she was a little hell-raiser when she was a puppy, but today, 7 years later she is laid back and sweet as sugar.  She ended up 55#.  I am posting a baby picture...she was 3 months old when we brought her home from her first family that couldn't care for her...yes, yes, we got her for FREE!  And she's a beauty.  She's August Calendar girl 2018 in the Golden doodle calendar.  What I absolutely love about the English Cream Doodles is they have a blockier face and stockier body and a glorious tail!  She sheds some, but nothing like our previous dogs.  She needs to be brushed and I have her groomed every 7 - 8 weeks.  Enjoy your new addition!  Great choice!

WOW!!! She is a beauty!! I could only hope that my puppy will end up as beautiful as yours!! She's absolutely gorgeous, I love her coat!! Do you know how big her parents were? We want a dog that'll end up being 55 pounds, but the odds of that are low :)))

Hi!

I agree with Karen about the coats, but I do think each one of your pup choices is absolutely beautiful!  Personally, temperament is the most important thing, that being said I was last pick. Lol. But boy did I get lucky :)

Bottom line is, no matter which pup you get, you will fall in love no matter what he/she turns out to look like.  My f1b looks like a mini retriever, and in the beginning I had no clue about what Karen is explaining. I thought all f1bs didn’t shed being 75% poodle.  My Nala does shed and doesn’t look like the typical dood.   But all I see is the most beautiful dog in the world :)

best of luck. All the doodles posted here on your post are just precious in my opinion :)

Sincerely,

Christine & Nala

Mom was an English Cream golden retriever and dad a standard white Poodle.  Average size 55-60#'s each.  My girl has a tendency to get "fluffy" in the winter...I try very hard to keep her weight at around 55#'s.  She has gotten up to 61#'s and that's too much.  We had her spayed when she was about 10 months.  Then we were told by a Vet out in Montana that the growth hormones need time to strengthen the bones...that takes until they are about two years old.  So I just thought I'd pass that information along, you might want to try researching it for yourself.  Anyway, Skadi ended up with Cruciate ligament tear and needed surgery for repair...she was less than 2 years old.  The best of luck to you and your new addition.  Take lots and lots of pictures...they get to that adult stage incredibly fast.  One last note...I am very lax at brushing her coat, but fortunately with this F1, she does not mat very much at all...incredible, I know because my other doodle which I got off Craigslist when she was 6 needed to be shaved immediately due to all her matting.

I see, I think we were planning on opting to spay her later and this definitely allowed us to see the other perspective! You really got lucky with your F1, she's the perfect size and doesn't mat! :))) Thank you for your insight and help, I really appreciate it!

Weight is tough to predict and actually a little deceiving when looking at them.  Here are my liter mate Sisters, Sophie and Lucy.  Sophie the apricot was about 54 lbs and Lucy in this pic is about 82 lbs.  Doesn't look that different to me.  Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, dog, outdoor and nature

Here is AnnaBelle and Lucy.  AnnaBelle is about 64 lbs and in this pic Lucy is about 75 pounds.  AB actually normally looks a little larger than Lucy because she is just slightly taller.  Lucy, while not really tall is very thick.  Her chest is very big and deep.  After we lost Sophie I wanted another that was right around 55 lbs, but with AB being 65, I don't really notice any difference.

AnnaBelle is also an F1 English GoldenDoodle with the same parent make up as yours.  Here is her puppy pic.  This is her at 6 weeks.

Oh wow! The difference in size is unnoticeable! I didn't realize that 10+ pounds makes such little difference, thank you so much for the images, I really appreciate it!
