Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello Friends,

I need your help!
My DH found this lovely little old lady on his morning walk, no lish, no collar or tags. She's a sweetheart, well-groomed and well behaved, has no front teeth. She loves cuddling and cries unless she's in your arms -- so she's obviously missing from someone's home. We are trying to figure out what next steps are. We've already contacted the police, petAmber allert, Fidofinder.com. We're also trying to figure out her breed. Any breed detectives out there? She's very small, maybe 10-15 pounds and looks a little bit like a schnauzer.
We would love to offer her a new home, but with two doodles, a senior cat and a teenager, we've reached our wild-animal capacity. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do with this sweet girl while we look for her family? Or maybe a service in the Illinois area that can help? We'd feel bad leaving her at a shelter but can't offer anything more than temporary housing.

Have her checked for a micro- chip.

she looks like a miniature schnauzer...remember, not everyone is internet savvy...why not put a

'found' ad in the local paper...?  if she's well groomed, she's someone's special pet...

Also, why not return to where you found her & ask kids who are outside playing if they recognize her...kids seem to be familiar with all the neighborhood animals :)  I did that one time & knew who the dog belonged to within 5 minutes...

Where are you in Illinois?  I could post pic around to my fiends if she was found in the Chicago area... maybe someone knows her.  You never know.

That few times I have found strays in my neighborhood, the owners did contact the police.  There is a Internet and Facebook site called "Lost Dog Illinois", that you can post a picture on as well.

AND OMG is she cute!!!

My in-laws live in Chantilly! My husband grew up in H.P , we are in Mount Prospect

It is so kind of you to help her out for now. The others have offered good suggestions. Try contacting local shelters too, her family may have called them.

She has a family - hope they are looking for her and get her back soon!

Yes, she has a family. It's very obvious that she's been regularly groomed.

She's a miniature schnauzer. The first thing I would do is take her to any local vet's office to be scanned for a chip.

There is an excellent miniature schnauzer rescue group right here in the Chicago suburbs, if she doesn't have a chip, you should contact them: http://www.schnauzerrescue.com/#pur

So sweet of you to help her!  I hope she finds her way home!

You are an angel!  Glad she is basically ok.  I wonder if someone just left her loose because she's "old".....that makes me sad.  Your doodles are gorgeous and the 3 of them look very cute together.   Hope she can find a good home!

Still doesn't make sense that someone would dump her.  She looks like she has been recently groomed....but I guess stranger things have happened.

How about making up some flyers to put up in and around the neighborhood.  Someone must know this lil one from somewhere!  In the meantime, I'm glad she fits in with your crew!

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!  Hoping someone recognizes her soon!!!

PS  Thanks for helping her out!  You're an angel!!!!!!!!!((HUGS))
