Apparently, according to PetPlan animals may need certain documents when crossing state lines I can't imagine this is enforced all that often but read all about it. One woman was fined $700 for a rescue dog.

That makes it a good day.
I would think this would apply to anyone where the animal is not a family member/foster. The only thing I could find for NJ that wasn't all legalize talks about health certificates for 'imported' animals - that makes me believe it does include pets.
Thanks for posting this. We have an RV and have traveled from state to state with Sedona - never a problem. However, we will now make sure we have the documentation before our next trip.
Good grief.
I live in Washington State and my vet is very adamant that she give me travel documents regarding the doodles health certificates and current on all shots, etc - if we are crossing state lines, or going to Canada. She signs off on it. However, I have never been asked for any documentation at the Canadian border, but I've got it if they ask.
We travel across a state line every time I take Finn to work and I never knew about this. And we go to Virginia regularly. Sigh. In fact, I never thought of taking shot records. Just food, bowls, water, toys, treats, extra leads, favorite blanket...you know, the important stuff. Thanks F. Will have to look into it.
Egad!
Thankfully because of Jane's travels and ideas I remembered to take all of the important papers with me on our trip to WI this past fall....I find it hard to believe that is is enforced though but you never know.
