I have been walking the dogs in the morning around 6 when it is "only" 80 degrees out.  We go anywhere from 2-3 miles.  DH has been working on a project outside of the house, so they are alone more during the day. I figure a nice walk helps them out!

But dood, Peri is so exhausted by the end, she literally comes inside, eats breakfast, drinks a bowl of water and then collapses on the hardwoods over an a/c vent.  Taquito goes off to the living room for his morning nap. They literally go back to sleep immediately.  During the walk though, they are super happy!

I guess it's the heat, right?  But 80 feels like 60 compared to our 100+ degree days we have been having!  I guess Peri is also just getting a little older and more mature now.  She doesn't have that crazy doodle energy like she used to!

What about your doods?  Do they walk this time of year (if you are in a hotter location like I am)?

We walk directly to a stream in which Porter immerses his lower half--about 1/3 mile away.  Then we walk 1 more mile.  Every couple weeks he starts to stink from said stream and I bathe him.  I could hose his belly down, but this is more fun for him.
I'd rather not take them too far for walks in the heat-sometimes Chloe just stands outside the door wanting to come back in-yours are doing EXACTLY what ours are doing for the last couple weeks. I feel guilty with less exercise but I want them to feel good too.
I walk my doodles every day at least twice in any weather....hot, cold, rain, etc. I am like the postman...LOL! In this terrible heat, their energy levels are very low and they sleep a lot more. We shorten our walks if they seem over hot, but we walk, nonetheless, every single day.
Bindi hates the heat too! I thought it was because I can't stand the heat but I guess it's just a doodle thing. If it's too hot she'll just turn around & try to pull you home.
Clover tolerates the heat alot better then Apollo our lab.  But both of them just want to lounge around in the a/c most of the day.  Unless they see us putting on our river shoes they start getting all crazy.  Apollo will swim forever while Clover wads and does what I call bobbing for apples.  Clover has acquired the love of swimming yet but will put her whole head under water to get a rock or something else.  WTD?

Luna gives up on consciousness after going to the park on a hot day - but she does love it while she's out like your dogs.

However - on the hottest day of the year (it was 116 with the humidity) Luna decided to go outside at noon and lie on our stone patio for 10 minutes... She often does this on hot, sunny days.

I think she actually likes the warmth of the sun - but as soon as she starts panting she comes right in.
