There is a lot of talk about the upcoming Doodle Cruise in October, 2012, that Jane (Rooney &Stuart) is organizing.

People are also asking if their doodles are invited and unfortunately, the cruise is only for humans. Even if doodles were invited, Fudge and Vern would not be going and here are some reasons why:

First of all, what do dogs even bring on a cruise. Vern eats a lot and I would have to bring a huge amount of food. What if we are out to sea and we run out of dog food? I over pack with just my stuff. How would I fit all that food into my suitcase?

Fudge is not a great swimmer and needs a life jacket most of the time. What if they don't have her size on the boat for the ship's pool? If my suitcase is full of my stuff and Vern's food, how am I going to get a life jacket in there too?

Another big worry....what would happen if they went overboard because they saw a fish in the water and decided to try and catch it.

I think this captain would turn the boat around and pick them up in the water:

But, does this guy look like he would:

I cannot even imagine what Vern would do if he saw this big guy in the water:

Or this on deck: (Remember he is afraid of Lawn Chairs)

It would be fun, though, if they could do this in the water:

We have a real problem keeping their water dishes full at night. I am afraid they might resort to this on the cruise:

Also, Fudge and Vern like to party. My husband and I go to bed early and they could sneak out and get in a lot of trouble. We have all heard of shipboard romances and Fudge does like the bad boys. What if this is what she is doing, while we are sleeping:

Don't get me started on Vern. He can be a follower and if he gets mixed up with the wrong crowd  our trip could be ruined:

Finally, we have all heard about pirates on the open seas and I bet Labradoodles could be a hot commodity on the Black Market. I cannot have anything happen to my Doodles by a group of these guys:

So, all things considered, my two doods are staying home where they are safe and sound.

Oh, I see what you guys did now. I wrote something to you, Adina, on the next page. And Karen I know what you mean about indoor plumbing. Even in the olden days it was a toss up between bears vs. wet one's...
I think you Karen, like me, would be happier on a small ship. Plus if you do an inland passage, I've done east and west, you can see all sorts of things as you travel form grizzlies in Alaska to birds etc on the southeast coast. I never had to do more than one flight of steps and it was easy to be outside. True, you can only go in circles on foot.
Oh Vernor! The Lawn Chairs!!! YIKES! I think if the doodles went they could have their own baggage.... You wouldn't need to pack their many needs in your suitcase. I do see the issues with the fish and swimming, et al.
Bonnie, I am glad you can see some of my points...LOL!!
Hey Laurie, we have been on some wonderful cruises, and we have had some great cabins, are they huge? No, but we have had ones with king sized beds in them, and then we have had queen beds, or two twins put together.  I think it depends on the ship line, and the type of accomadations you want to pay for.  We have been on big ships and small ships, they all have their good and bad, but if their is  casino, good food, and interesting places to see, it is fine,,,And sometimes it is great when most of the people go ashore,a nd the ship is practically empty, so nice then too....I really have to find this blog and get to the info about this cruise.  I used to be a travel agent for a few yrs, so curious what ship and where cruise is going and from where....We love to cruise!!!!
Cheryl, Join the new group called Doodle Cruise Group or something...LOL! Most of the information is under that group. I think the details have not been finalized yet and it might be happening on Friday. Thanks for all the information. I guess we will have to find out for ourselves if we like cruises.
Aweee Fudgey and Vernors---so sorry your mom is SOOOOO OVERPROTECTIVE!  Sheeesh.
ROTFL.....they should be re-homed :)
Loved the picture of Ven playing pool and of Fudge doing the "Titanic scene"! LOL- very funny!
My daughter helped with those two pictures. Just imagine what I could do if I would take the time to learn Photo Editing. Thank you!!
Love it! Great post!
Thanks, Jodi!
