Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I am so excited to welcome our new goldendoodle puppy into our home in a few short weeks. I have researched and researched and researched, trying to prep myself, and my family to become the best puppy owners ever.
I made the mistake of joining a doggy forum(not here), and posted a question there- and got SLAMMED for wanting a goldendoodle. Then I read tons of negative things online about them being a designer breed.
Makes me sad. I didn't buy my puppy because he is a "designer" breed. We got him because we truly feel that he would make a great addition to our family. I love the typical goldendoodle's temperament, posssible low shed, happy go lucky demeanor, and their cute look.
Do you just ignore people that say these things? Have you ever been approached in real life while out with your dog and confronted?

We are so happy to have you here with us! Hello Cleveland~ Akron here. Hope you can join us all here in Ohio on our Doodle Get-Together and Romp !
Again, Welcome To DK.
Oh my! A doodle get together! Sounds awesome. Hopefully he will have all his shots and be ready to come play when you meet up! Any dates set yet?
Our puppy is 4 weeks old currently. I think we are naming him Barkley (though the kids prefer Mickey- just got back from Disney lol) Our doggy is from Canton- so not too far from you!
Wow. We got ours in Canton/Massillon area. Spud is 2.5 years old so it would be a distant sibling at best
If you are interested go to my page and look at a slide show that a DK member ( Ann and Mike Kendig) put together from a romp/meet-up from last summer. Here is a link to make is simpler for you today
All shots are a must! Be safe. But I am sure we will meet you someday soon.
I aam so sorry that you had to experience this. People can be really ignorant and very uneducated. Don't take this personally, rather stick with all of us here at Doodle Kisses. We are friendly, we don't judge and we learn from each other. This is SUCH a great source of information on Doodles and I can't tell you how informative it is.
Congratulations on getting your beautiful new addition. I know you must be going crazy with waiting. I am right there with you my friend. I will be getting my Australian Labradoodle in 5 weeks and it seems like an eternity!!
Post lots of pictures and ask lots of questions :D
I'm not sure why some people are down on doodles considering all the other cross breeds there are. I have never had anyone say any thing negative to me personally, but there are others who have. Welcome your puppy with love and open arms and and he will be a lucky little doodle. A lot of the info on the web pushes the no shedding, hypo allergenic aspect but there are no guarantees, lots of doodles shed, they are not all perfect. They need lots of exercise, lots of grooming and lots of patience. Good luck with your new baby and Doodlekisses is a great resource for info on feeding, grooming, training and just about anything that you will need to know. Are you a first time dog owner, if so, be warned, having a puppy is like having a newborn baby and just as much work.
