It's such a common procedure I'm sure nothing will go wrong. He will be in some pain the first couple of days but he will be ok after. try not to worry too much :)
We have three males under 2 years old and everything went just fine. Here, you can pick the "extras" like monitoring during surgery, pain shots, etc and, of course, the boys got the full load. Our vet wants them to spend the night. So we took them early one morning and picked up early the next. They were sleepy most of that day. The hardest part was keeping them from jumping. If you don't have it already, get the boys underwear and cut a hole in the seat for tail to help keep him from licking the stitches. You can use the front opening but we found it was easier to cut a hole in the seat. Just take it off when he goes out to potty. Watch the incision and make sure it doesn't bleed or start getting red like it's infected. I'm sure he will be just fine and in a day or so, he'll be acting like it never happened.
I hope by now Winston is back in your loving arms and you can relax. It is a common procedure...but we tend to worry anyway when it is the one we love.
