I'm not sure if Heartguard covers all types of worms. I'd find out what kind of worms the puppy had and the check with the vet.
He won't necessarily have caught them.
True. Maybe watchful waiting will do.
Is she talking about the worms in the belly or heart worm? If they are worms in the belly, the heart guard wont do it, I don't think...
Heartgard Plus protects against roundworms and hookworms, in addition to heartworms. The regular Heartgard doesn't. And neither one protects against tapeworms or whipworms. So I agree with F, you need to know what kind of worms the puppy has.

yeah - she's on the plus.  My friend called her vet and the vet gave her a pill to give piper.  Pretty sure they are roundworms.

What I don't understand is why this vet didn't put her on heartgard OR flea/tick meds when they first took her for her check-up?  Apparently this vet thinks its not a big deal?  Monthly preventatives are optional?  Sheesh...

You would think the vet would checked her stool and found about about it much earlier....
