Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So, as some of you may know we got Darwin from a back yard breeder, before we found DK and learned everything we know now. His mother was owned by the breeder, a golden retriever. The father, a standard white poodle was her friend's dog.

By the time we saw Darwin's litter (12 weeks) there were only three puppies left. Him and two other boys, but I know there were more than just 3 puppies in the litter. I want to know who his siblings are so bad! I would love to have a romp with them, or even just see what they grew up to look like. I'm pretty positive that they were all sold to locals, as she wasn't extremely legitimate and I doubt she advertised or shipped the puppies. I always keep an eye out for doodle owners, hoping that I will find a long lost sibling. :-)

His breeder is not involved at all, she never even responded to my e-mails when I used to send her photos of Darwin. So she's not an option for finding out where his siblings went. I realize that it's possible his siblings are long lost and we'll never find them, but my curiosity keeps me wondering. Any suggestions?

Do you know who your doodle's siblings are? Have you had romps with them? Do they look similar to your doodle or completely different? Post pictures if you have them!

Aw. Peri is on the right, right? :-)
Correct...and she is the smallest in her litter...but fattest as a pup :)
Achilles had a sibling that I talked to on here. After a few conversations she became inactive. They looked like twins. I wish I could meet up with her too. I sometimes visit the page to see if there has been any action, nothing. Oh well!!!
I hate to admit that I bought Sasha in a pet shop, when our eyes met it was love at first sight and I had to have her.  We bonded immediately.  So I know nothing about Sasha's past only that she came from a puppy mill in Iowa.  I would never support puppy mills but I looked at the other end of the spectrum ... I rescued a wonderful goldendoodle that is the smartest dog I have ever met.  Sasha is my shadow and could not ask for a better dog.  When I purchased Oliver, I went to a back yard breeder in Pa., Chester area.  He was Amish, he owned the mother who was a Labradoodle and Oliver's father was a standard poodle.  Eli (breeder) gave me copies of Oliver's fathers paperwork, pedigree, hip certification that his hips have been checked and are in good condition.  There were about 10-11 puppies in the litter and I have no idea who has Olivers siblings.  I would love to know where they went and to see pictures would be the best.  Unfortunately the Amish do not use computers etc. so I cannot even contact him.   I should post something here on DK to see if anyone bought a labradoodle from Eli in Chester that were born on June 30, 2010.   Even though he was a backyard breeder he took really good care of the litter and they were happy and healthy puppies.  I would of never purchased if they were not in good condition.   I could not ask for two better dogs and I spoil them rotten because they deserve it for giving me such joy :)
I don't even know if Darwin's parents were AKC registered, let alone their health backgrounds. It was definitely a spur of the moment thing for us. Puppies are too cute for their own good, LOL. Of course we all love our doodles no matter where they came from don't we! :-)

Can't be AKC registered--they are not purebreds--but there is a CKC that registers LD's, I THINK...

Darwins' parents were purebreds; a Poodle and a Golden. so they could have been registered.

Any purebred can be AKC registered, all it takes is two parents who are the same (AKC recognized breed) and a registeration fee. Pet store dogs from puppy mills can be AKC registered, as long as they aren't mixed breeds.

Yep.
At our first puppy training class, as we checked in, the trainer commented that there was another puppy coming to class with the same birthday as Sedona's - and that it was another Labradoodle.  It turned out to be Rosebud, Sedona's sister.  It was quite a coincidence since the breeder isn't local.  Also, the training classes are offered all over the Bay Area and the particular location we chose isn't really very close to Rosebud's house.  They were so excited to see each other!  As a matter of fact, after the first class, they had to sit on opposite sides of the classroom!  During the many "go play" times of the class, they immediately sought each other and never really wanted to play with anybody else and when the trainer told the participants to get their pups for the next part of the lesson, it was quite a challenge to tell which puppy was Sedona.  Both Rosebud and Sedona also took the Puppy II classes at the same location, but we haven't been together since :(
That is amazing!!!!   So glad that you found each other!

We took Luna to puppy class in our home city of 1 million people at one of the many dog training schools available.

When I stepped out of the car a little boy (7-8 years old) walked up to me and said "What type of dog is that?" I said "mini goldendoodle" then he asked "Where did you get it?"  so I told him... and he went to get his mom.  Shortly thereafter a slightly larger, fuzzier version of Luna appeared from around the other side of the van.  We very quickly came to the conclusion that the two pups were from the same litter - Oscar was Luna's brother.

During socialization/free play time in puppy class it was clear that Luna and her brother (now separated for 4 weeks) recognized each other and played a LOT rougher with each other than the other puppies.

Oscar was definitely bigger than Luna and had more of a square face, so I wonder how big he is now.  My guess is he is over 40 pounds, since Luna is about 35 and was much more petite.

We also find dogs from the same breeder as Luna (though not the same litter) at our local dog park.  Luna's poodle dad makes a lot of retriever-ish looking puppies, so they're easy to spot!

I wish so bad that I would just bump into one of his siblings, I would love to know how Darwin would react.
