Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So, as some of you may know we got Darwin from a back yard breeder, before we found DK and learned everything we know now. His mother was owned by the breeder, a golden retriever. The father, a standard white poodle was her friend's dog.

By the time we saw Darwin's litter (12 weeks) there were only three puppies left. Him and two other boys, but I know there were more than just 3 puppies in the litter. I want to know who his siblings are so bad! I would love to have a romp with them, or even just see what they grew up to look like. I'm pretty positive that they were all sold to locals, as she wasn't extremely legitimate and I doubt she advertised or shipped the puppies. I always keep an eye out for doodle owners, hoping that I will find a long lost sibling. :-)

His breeder is not involved at all, she never even responded to my e-mails when I used to send her photos of Darwin. So she's not an option for finding out where his siblings went. I realize that it's possible his siblings are long lost and we'll never find them, but my curiosity keeps me wondering. Any suggestions?

Do you know who your doodle's siblings are? Have you had romps with them? Do they look similar to your doodle or completely different? Post pictures if you have them!

Here is a picture of Gavin as a puppy with his big half-brother Jip and Jip's next door neighbour Ben who is not a relative but from the same kennel.  It was uncanny how Gavin immediately gravitated to his big bro over the unrelated dog Ben.

so sweet!
Aw! That is so sweet.
We don't know any of Kona's siblings but Owen's sister is on DK... Jellybean! It is so fun. Also having their kennel listed on DK has put me in touch with the breeder's other litters. Owen and Kona are half brothers and my DH's brother got another of their half brothers. It is really fun to see the half siblings and others. My Kona looks different from all the others we see. He is curlier and pewter colored.

Out of 7 puppies,  Duffy is the only other sibling and here he is with my girl Shelby!

Cute!

Hi Camilla, I just posted a video of Daisy meeting Bella today. Bella is Daisy's true sibling but from another liter...this is Rachel's (Daisy and Bella's mom) 3rd liter, she waited a year to breed her again after Daisy. She too is a BYB and I may have chosen differently if I had been on DK prior but I am so glad I found my big little girl, she is perfect!

Bella is also on DK with her mom Serena

I saw that video, it's so cute!

Out of Trixies 7 Siblings...2 Came to MN & live about 2+ hours from us.   They have 2 of her brothers & we do keep in contact on FB.  So I get to see pictures.  One looks alot like Trixie & Is just a bit bigger then her...One has a More Golden look-Hes bigger then both .  My Breeder is on FB too- I could ask about the other pups- I think most stayed closer to her.

it is fun to keep in contact & know how siblings are doing.  We hope to meet up with her brothers again someday

I wish you could find Darwin a Sibling

We have no contact with Luca and Calla's sibs but they both came from across the country so it's not too surprising. Whenever I go out with the dogs I'm asked if they are brother and sister and I reply"Adoptive brother and sister". But I find it really funny that some people want to know of they're twins! I don't think they look at all alike. They do have one great grandparent in common. I suspect many ALDs do.

I wanted to quickly add something to this really fun discussion--I posted the picture of Nigel (the red and white parti-doodle) a few days ago--he and Rio (my pup who is his brother) were really good buddies when they were here as babies, but they didn't get along three months later when reunited at my house. I see a lot of posts here about how the pups remember each other--and I am sure they do--but it isn't always "one big happy family"! Rio did not care for Nigel's style--they were almost too much alike in that both feel the need to be the boss. I had to separate them a few times after things got too "growly". I know that pups growl when they play--but this was different. Rio has a bit of a temper and makes a different growl--a  more serious sounding one--when he has had enough. Too bad, since I thought they would be great pals when Nigel came to be groomed. Rio gets along fine with his other brother Rafi who I pupsit now and then. Rafi is more of a follower and is easy-going.
