Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am thinking about adopting a doodle from GlenEden. I've had a few email exchanges from Judy but was wondering your views on them. I feel like asking for info has been a bit tough and am waiting to hear if we will be able to come to the farm to see the puppies. Just curious about your experiences. Thanks all!!

Judy may not give you as much info as you want, but her puppies are amazing! We adore our little Kaiya and get compliments on her constantly - even when with other doodles. She is an F1B, which I do recommend. Glen Eden is a lovely place and we wouldn't go anywhere else for another dog!
Hi Kim! Thanks so much for your input! The recent litter that Judy told me about was a multigen litter. I'm glad you mention that about the F1B...I wasn't sure which was the better way to go. I'm hoping to get a mini but we'll see what happens. I sent her an email asking if it was possible to visit but didn't get a response....fingers crossed!
Thanks again!
Hi! We had a wonderful experience with Gleneden. I called the Sunday before Memorial Day (last year) at 2 minutes to 5pm and Judy answered the phone. Now considering my daughter and I had been in a horrible car accident just a few days before which killed our beloved standard doodle, this was a hard call for me to make. Anyway, Judy could not have been nicer and allowed us to come out the next morning. She was very kind and patient, showing us lots of Cavachons, Golden Doodles and then the mini f1b LD boy we had gone out to see. Once we chose our little boy, she took him and gave him a nice bath while we played with some of the other puppies. The contract and purchase went swiftly and efficiently and we drove home the same day with our new love. My friend also purchased a Cavachon from Gleneden and was very impressed as well and her "little girl" is just the best. So, you get high recomendations from me for Gleneden and Judy. Also, the property is so beautiful, it's a joy just to drive onto it. Good Luck! Terri and "mini" Cooper

PS. I think Multi Generations are okay, but if you want non shedding don't go with a first generation.
Thank you so much Terri! This is really great to hear. My husband and I are going to drive out there on Monday morning to meet the dogs and hopefully (fingers crossed!) find our new best friend!
I'm so glad you had such a great experience with Judy....I feel really good about this decision so far!

And p.s.....I see that we are neighbors!!!
He is just precious, Renae! Glad you picked Glen Eden and I am sure you won't regret it.

Kaiya was adopted from Becky and I don't think Kaiya saw much time at the farm. We didn't see any socialization issues with Kaiya. We did heavily socialize her from day 1 (and continue to do so) at obedience training, dog parks, with the neighbor's and other friends' dogs, shopping malls, public places, etc. At 16mo, Kaiya passed her CGC and her Therapy Dog Inc tests and now does visits to hospitals. So no problems here. We've been very happy with Kaiya. She's a F1B "mini" (30lbs) labradoodle and lays around the house all day, but then also get's fired up to play ball, frisbee, or trail running with me. She gets very excited to see people, but even when surrounded by a group of little kids, she's still very well behaved.
I got my Koji from Becky in Maryland. He is a wonderful dog - his sire is Sunset Celebration. that being said - he has VERY bad allergies - it is constant maintenance - and Koji was in a stall in the barn with his litter mate at Becky's. He came to me with VERY bad worms. (his brother also had a very bad skin issue) he ate other dogs feces - and was not handled by people very much. I have worked daily with him from day one - and he really is a wonderful dog - but I don't think I would get a dog from that environment again.

We adopted our miniature labradoodle last October.  We love her so much!  SHe has the most wonderful disposition and was easily trainable.  "Lucy" passed her CGC at 8 months of age.

We adopted Cleo (F1B mini) last week from Gleneden.  We have fallen in love with her but our experience with Gleneden was not a good one.  After we sent the deposit they would not respond to emails or calls.  We asked repeatedly for a picture and finally they sent one with 3 dogs in it and said they weren't sure which was ours.  We had to send 3 emails before they responded to a pickup time on a date they had chosen.  We were not allowed to look at any litter mates or her parents, Simba and Mimi.  We set up a vet appointment for immediately after we returned home with her after reading some of the stories that have been posted on this site.  She checked out fine and we looking forward to many happy years with her.  I would not go through Gleneden the next time though.

Hi Elizabeth,  We adopted Quincy from Gleneden last May.  He was born on 3/17/11 and he is also from a Mimi and Simba litter (according to Judy but I have my doubts).  He was supposed to be a mini and is now 53 pounds!  We love him to death and he is such a GREAT dog but I did not want a big dog :-(

I don't think I could recommend Gleneden anymore because of all the confusion we had with our adoption as well.  I wish you lots of happy, fun times with Cleo.  She sure is a cutie!  Just out of curiosity....how much does she weigh?

Oh no.  We definitely don't want a big dog either.  We have a size limitation where we have our vacation home and this could be really bad.  She weighed 6 pounds at her 8 week check.  How big was Quincy at that age?
