Hi everyone!
I am happy that there are so many signed up for the Pacific Northwest Doodles!
I know that we have completed profile sections, but how about getting to know each other a bit better?
I'll start...
I am Jacque Reynolds, I breed Labradoodles, Goldendoodles and North American Retrievers. Our business name is Back Porch Labradoodles of California.
My husband and I live on 26 acres in Oroville, California and we have welcomed ten adult dogs and many, many puppies into our ever-growing family of Doods!
In fact, I have recently established a non-profit corporation to provide Doodles as service dogs to children and adults in need. I will officially announce the "kick-off" when we get our web page up and running!
When we settle in, I'd love to set up a Doodle Romp for our area...I hope that you will join us!
Now, about me personally; I am in my late 50's but recently graduated from law school (as a birthday gift) and I am a mediator, teaching online mediation courses. Now, with the Back Porch Labradoodles and our new service dog business, I am keeping pretty busy!
I am looking forward to building new friendships through Adina's DoodleKisses group!
Jacque
Hi Jacque! I am so happy to read of someone else who changed careers in their late 50's! I am a substitute teacher and have been for nine years. I couldn't afford to be out of work for 18 weeks while I completed student teaching. My dream of becoming fully credentialled will finally come true this fall as I have finally become able to fund the student teaching and related expenses. I am beyond happy that by the end of this year, I will have a teaching credential and a Master's degree! All at the tender age of 60...which I will be in October. Sometime between now and then, I will also be adopting a labradoodle! Yayyyy!
Congratulations Kathy!!! What an excellent accomplishment this is for you!
I always said that I was "reinventing" the second half of my life ... and I could not be happier! It is nice to be in a place where we do what brings us fulfillment and joy instead of pushing forward in a world that sometimes pushes back. LOL
I am very happy to meet you and I hope that you will stay in touch. We are, after all, almost neighbors! :o)
Could you please check and see if I am one of the members of Pacific NW Doodles? I live in silverton, Or and I am not sure if I joined this group or not. thanks
Hi Dixie...I am sorry, but I don't administer that group and so I don't have access to the membership list. I am sure that Adina could check for you or...if you go into the group, look at the first post. That is likely the administrator post. You could send a message to that person.
Wish I could help! I know that they'd love to count you as a member!
I wrote to Dixie privately, but in case anyone else is wondering... ANY TIME you can POST ANYTHING in a group...you are a member of that group. Nonmembers can NOT post until they join...and joining just takes a click ... so since Dixie was even able to write the above message...she is a member.
I am in need of a service dog/hearing dog. Just need an appropriate dog adult only and want it over two for sure. I have the man who was the West Coast trainer for Paws with a Cause to do the service dog training, and Martha Hoffman (Lent me an Ear) to do the hearing dog training. So need an appropriate dog and I would be grateful if you know of one.
We are from Paradise and are now living in Merced, California. In fact graduated from Chico state with my BS, and still have not been able to work because of this disability. It has been a challenge. We will share the press with you as since it is a dual dog will get some press. I hope you can help me. Sharon Bias 209724-9803 209233-2096 or cosmoswonderful@sbcglobal.net
I am new to this venu and am in hopes that you can help me.
Thanks in advance
Hi Sharon, I am the one who responded to the email for Gabby Jack Ranch ...You might want to check with IDOG and the Doodle Rescue Collective to see if there are any adult Doodles that would work for your needs. I wish that I could help, but I just don't have any adult dogs available.
I'll send you the links to the rescues if you let me know you are interested in that route.
Looks like this was an old thread -- maybe it can be revived a bit and we can get to know more PNW doodle owners!
My name is Jen and I live in Ridgefield, WA which is near Vancouver and Battle Ground... so not too hard to get into Portland for romps or even head up north a bit for WA romps... would love to try it out! Sammy is not quite 6 months old so I have yet to try out a dog park or a romp yet. He socializes in puppy class for now.
I am a 30 something mom of 4 boys. Married for almost 13 years now. Grew up in this area but also spent time in St. Louis, MO for college and early marriage years. I am a BS educated RN and I work in Labor & Delivery. I work three 12 hour night shifts per week. I love what I do but don't always love working nights (though when I see all of what goes on during the day shift I am grateful for the more easy going, natural pace of nights). I will probably re-invent myself a bit in a few years with the addition of a masters degree... waiting for the kids to all be in school. My boys are ages 11, 7, 7, and 2.5 years. Really fun ages right now and I often just want to freeze time and keep them all right where they are!
Loving the addition of a dog to our household and enjoy the companionship, challenge of training, and learning all these new things about doodles from websites like this one!
Guess that is enough for now! Hope to see more new posts pop up soon here.
Hi Jen, nice to meet you! I do hope that others will join in the introduction.
You certainly do have your hands full...so glad that you enjoy your children and your work. I reinvented myself after my 50th birhday...I went to law school and earned a Juris Doctorate degree, graduated just after turning 55. :o)
Not one to let life pass me by, I certainly appreciate your comments.
Hi Jacque - it's always nice to see another doodle owner, and it's super-nice to see another attorney doodle owner! I'm 30, an attorney in Seattle, no kids, and my husband and I are the owners of a 9.5-month old goldendoodle that we adore. We've started coming to more of the doodle romps around here and have had a blast meeting other owners.
Congratulations! Only those who have survived law school and taken the bar exam can comprehend what it means! LOL
I am not an attorney, however, I started breeding dogs when I was in law school and, while it was really important for me to finish, I never had a strong desire to go further. Instead I decided to start my non-profit service dog corporation.
My husband is an attorney, he started out as a business law attorney, then passed the patent bar and worked in private practice. Now he is a deputy district attorney. You just never know. :o)
What type of law do you practice?
I am hoping that my husband will retire soon and start to work in disability law and animal law.
One day it would be lovely to visit Washington. I have never been there, but I know it is gorgeous country!
Your Goldendoodle is stunning!
